Default Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait vs Dua Casino Royale Nights

The house of Dua recently released Casino Royale Nights, "inspired" by Baccarat Rouge 540 Extrait version. What are your thoughts if you have tested both of them?

smell wise, i would say the are about 90-95% similar on the opening top notes. Hours into the dry down is where the original separates it self slightly to me. I have worn the dua and got complimented on it. If you have the money, i would say get the original, but the dua is a great bargain considering how cheap it is.

I found that I have to spray at least twice as much with Dua fragrances to achieve the same effect because it comes out diffracted into a cloud even when using a different atomiser. With Supernova, I would need 10-15 sprays, whereas 2-3 sprays of Elysium would be enough. Maybe because of the cheap atomiser? I will try to get a sample of CRN, I already tried the original Casino Royale, but these are virtually impossible to get in the UK at a cost-effective price. I will probably still purchase the original BR 540 Extrait because I think that what Kurkdjian does and has done for the world of perfumery is amazing and it deserves respect, added to the fact that CRN will never match the original 100%.

Yes, a big part of the problem with spray count compared to the real deal is the awful atomizer, also used by spiltters. With the few Duas I have and when I order splits, I always decant to a travel atomizer.

I have BR540 and a decant of the Xtrait. I only have the Royal Nights. The clone's longevity is as good as either in my experience and it is pretty dang close. Gets the same effect.

Casino Royale Nights is much more complimented than the original BR540 Extrait... Honestly this blows my mind away..

Haven't tried any Dua fragrances so can't comment on that, but I am very happy with the original released under the Baccarat house and the two released under MFK house (EDP and Extrait)

I'll buy it and give it a try. Frankly I may just be going the clone route here on out. I can go months on end wearing $300-$400 Areej Le Dore or Roja Perfumes with no one noticing, which is fine because I personally enjoy them. But then I can bust out some $40 Alexandria Fragrance Hawaii Volcano knock off of Virgin Island Water and get people stopping me in the street asking what I'm wearing.

I have AF's clone of Apple Brandy, and Creation E. I've tried both originals but the clone legit is like 80 to 90% of the original. I'm more than happy to shell out $80 to get the scents I love rather than the $600 combined for basically desk ornaments.

In my opinion, the only downside to the clones is that their bottles are absolutely poverty so I often have them in a drawer rather than displayed on a nightstand.

I've read a number of reports that Arabian Oud Bussma is very close approximation to the EdP. Can't comment on the extrait but apparently Bussma has stellar performance.

FWIW, I've not tried the AO offering.

Ironically, I've heard that the MJK EDP is completely different than the extrait, far less enjoyable. However I've only personally had the extrait, never used the EDP.

True talk right there.. It's true, clones are sometimes executed to perfection and get better reactions from people than the original compositions.. and Casino Royale Nights is a perfect example of that. Simply mind-bogglingly good.

Did you have the chance to try it yet ? I'd be interested to know what's your take on it.

I did actually. A few notes:

    - The DUA bottle designs are embarrassingly tacky. They give the impression that they were purchased out of a 7 eleven next to car fresheners.

    - The DUA bottle performance is as poverty as the design. With a quality sprayer, usually 2 sprays is all you need because they're borderline hoses. The DUA bottle... it's "spitting" out tiny amounts of the fragrance. Have to hold the bottle 2 inches from skin and still spray 4 to 6 times for any sort of coverage.

    - The DUA Casino Nights fragrance itself is F'ing amazing. I would say it's about an 80% hit on the real thing. It's equally as sexy, just doesn't have those nuanced characteristics that come with drydown (all the things that get missed in daily use anyway).

    - If at all possible I will always go the Alexandria Fragrances route for clones due to the simple/non-douchey design of their bottles and the infinitely superior spray performances. However I must say DUA seem's to make equally as good scents.

I have both and I could not wear the DUA. It has a note that smells like nail polish to my nose. I bought 5 DUAs overall and only enjoy 1 of them, the 13zz01 aventus clone.

I jumped on the hype train for CRN and had to buy a bottle after the crazy reviews people were posting about it. I've never smelled BR540 before but if it smells like this then I might have to get a decant one day.

Just received my bottle and sprayed on two sprays to the wrist and it seems like it's giving me a nice aura. Definitely get that cotton-candy type vibe that other people have mentioned. When smelled up close, I get some harshness, as Boosted alluded to it's similar to a nail polish type smell - I'd assume with BR540 this does not exist.

But the sillage of this scent, even when I am just sitting here and getting wafts from my wrist - what a stunner. It is sweet like cotton candy but not sickeningly so (at least not after 10 minutes of wearing). It's a different type of sweetness to me. I can see why this one seems to get a boatload of compliments from others. One of those scents where you are just blown away when smelling it for the first time.

I can't wait to test this one out and see how it performs. If the performance is good and I don't find the sweetness overbearing, then I can see myself reaching for this one a lot.

I think Dua did a great job, but I would still love to get a decant of BR540 Extrait one day.
