Default Nishane istanbul -- anyone have experience or recommendations?

I'm very curious about this Turkish house, especially Sultan Vetiver and Afrika-Olifant. They're sparsely reviewed on Basenotes and little discussed in the forums. Does anyone have any recommendations from their lineup, or opinions on the house in general?

Since their discovery set on their website costs ~$100USD, I'll probably be ordering individual samples from Twisted Lily. Here's that dealer's Nishane section:

    And Nishane's proprietary website:

I own Spice Bazaar and I love it. It is a bit strong BUT delicious. I would recommend wearing it in the Fall/Winter. Every time I wear it I get loads of compliments.

I've tried a few and thought they were all pleasant

Sultan Vetiver is vetiver overload. Definitely worth a try!

Hacivat has an absolutely sublime pineapple note and great performance.

I bought several samples of the ones that sounded the slightest bit interesting to me from Twisted Lily.

The only one I wound up liking enough to buy was Hacivat. Some think it's like Aventus. The only reason it smells like Aventus to me is because it does have a very good pineapple note.

Otherwise, I would say it's lighter and more unisex than Aventus.....and it lasts a very long time on me.

It's just a very pleasant smell that does not evolve much from beginning to end.

I could have sent you samples of both of those.

Afrika-Olifant is a bit like Nanban, but with a slightly more barnyard leaning (M doesn't like it. Ha!)

Sultan Vetiver is nice...but, you know...Guerlain; little tops it.

I was considering blind buying Fan Your Flames (or something else on my shortlist). I'm still undecided.

You can get 10 1ml samples from this place for $60.

    http://www.indiescents.com/nishane-i...-sample-packs/

I liked a few of their things (Afrika-Olifant and Patchouli Kozha) but not enough to pay the $300 cdn for a full bottle.
    Most worn:

    I smelled them briefly.

Reminiscent of Serge Lutens from a complexity perspective only.
But not as creative/radical as SL.

Suede et Safran strongly remind me of Tuscan Leather, only more tar-like.

Hacivat was redundant when you have the likes of Aventus and a million other cheap options.

Hacivat is a nice earthy-pineapple scent, but I went semi-anosmic to it pretty quickly.

My reaction to Sultan Vetiver makes me wonder if I my sample was bad, although it's an official sample from an authorized retailer. It smelled like pure urinal cake to me. I love vetiver, but this just smells awful to me.

Hacivat shares the pineapple note with Aventus. That's about it, to me.

It's much classier and longer lasting than Aventus for me.

I preferred Aventus over Hacivat, I didn't find it as complex and was expecting much more for the price.

Afrika-Olifant is wonder, with a great musk note. I have good memories of walking through Brooklyn's hot September weather at night at feeling nonetheless very cool. Maybe it's because I live in Brooklyn but the fragrance reminds me a bit of the musk offerings the street vendors sell. Of course, Afrika-Olifant smells 100 times better.

Artistically created fragrances. They tend to overdo a theme just slightly - so spray softly. I like and own these from the house-

Spice Bazaar - A great representation of blended spices (ginger, cinnamon, pepper, saffron, cumin) - a very fine spices scent. No complaints.
Afrika-Olifant - a bold concoction of leather, incense, and animalic musks. It's a wild ride!
Boszporusz - One of the best if not the best saltwater aquatic scent I've smelled. Only complaint is it has a slight use of Kenzo aquatic notes that cheapens the overall effect. One of my favorites anyway.
Hacivat - very cool long lasting pineapple scent. A bit of patchouli and possibly some anise and woods in base. Make no mistake, this is not an Aventus wannabe. Very soft subtle cooling pineapple.
Suede et Safran - lighter version of Tuscan Leather - mid and light toned saffron/ambrette seed suede note, with slight ginger spice. An interesting fragrance but is not as dark or mysterious as many other suede leathers (Tuscan Leather, Rasasi Yaquam, Goldolphin, Suedois, Oud Saphir).

Also recommend, but no longer own these bottles:
Sultan Vetiver - lively vetiver scent.
    Musiqa Oud - floral musk.
Fan Your Flames - boozy, tobacco, woods.
december line up: z zegna milan • scent one hinoki • le labo baie 19 • le labo thé noir 29 • moth and rabbit la haine • heretic blood cedar • bvlgari man dark orient • madras cardamom • phuong dang artist • hermes osmanthe yunnan • boadicea the victorious imperial • olibanum profumum • fahrenheit parfum • dusita issara • papyrus oud/71 • oud alif • sahraa oud • mfk oud extrait • baccarat rouge 540 extrait
