Default Is the Tom Ford 'Vert' line being discontinued?

They seem to have removed the 250mL bottles from Nordstrom. I've heard this is a tell-tale sign?

Vert des Bois is incredible and I'll have to pull the trigger on a full bottle if this is happening...

Fwiw, the entire line is still up on the TF site. There are a few up there with no more 250ml available but those have been somewhat confirmed... Shanghai Lily, Rive d'Ambre and Chamapaca Absolute.

Fwiw, the TF site is showing Tobacco Oud Intense as removed entirely and the entire Vert line is down to only 50ml bottles. If I were a betting man I'd say these aren't going to be around for long.

Like two years ago - right?

Could well be the tell-tale signs of a price-gouging vaulting strategy.

Given Tom Ford's history, this would hardly surprise me.

I don't think enough people are ready yet for a return to green fragrances. Everyone is still "stuck on sweet"

Sweet and clean, sweet and clean... can we move on now??

I found actually found the Vert series to be really nice across the board but none of them stood out as big TF siggy scents. Who knows, maybe in a couple years they'll come back with new names dripping with double entendre.

I have found that since the dawn of the 90's, designer fragrance (at any price) is caught in a causality loop of

Aquatic clean -> fresh fougères -> sweet woods and/or gourmands -> aquatics

Because they can rotate these on roughly a 5 to 8 year cycle to stave boredom with the mass market and spend the least R&D to get the most cash. Anyone trying a "retro" genre scent like Héritage in 1992, Rive Gauche Pour Homme in 2003 or Gucci Guilty Absolute Pour Homme in 2017 gets a big fanbase from hobbyists who still cling to traditional chypre/fougère/oriental/leather genres but that's more like "throwing a bone to the dogs" so the houses don't get critically trashed for being completely shallow. In a way, the niche market has absolved them of all expectation to make interesting perfume.

Tom Ford only makes so much anachronistic stuff because Mr. Ford himself loves older styles, but I think a lot of those creations (like the Vert line) are made with planned obsolescence anyway, since his marketing guys know they won't penetrate the beige mainstream tastes they've cultivated for 40 years now, since synthetic accords took over. Not to cast aspersions, but when old Tom kicks over, they'll likely whitewash his entire line like LVMH did to YSL's lines, killing off or making limited collections of everything not a amberwoodsaquaticfreshsweetgourmandblah. God that was depressing to write.
