The 2010 version is pretty good. Old school opening, dirty middle, and fresh clean base.
The most recent recent version loses the old school opening and straight smells like a bar of Irish Spring or a lighter Sung Homme.

I have to agree with this.

I have many of the suggested frags, but Castile has become an almost instant favourite of this genre.

    Thanks Hugh!
I had a 2015 bottle which I quite liked, but haven't tried current.
Would like to try first formula with the silver-sticker 'r' to see if that also turns Brut'ish on me like the 80's version.

My Paco Rabanne PH is of 2017, but still pretty much worth it. Less honey and saltiness than vintage (personally, I called it "salted honey of marine bees", those with white-and-navy blue striped bottoms, you know),
good laurel and overall soapy fougere quality.

    Many good frags mentioned.

I’ll mention I Profumi di Firenze Vetiver di Giava

Opening is clean vetiver. Middle & dry down is Irish Spring soap - more so than Patrick’s of Ireland

    And it’s an EdP

And what's wrong with good ol' Brut? Ha.
Here's a modern soapy frag that will burn your nostrils upon first spray: Ferragamo Acqua Essenzia Colonia
