    Default Applying for Massive Sillage

When I first started wearing fragrance, I was careful and discrete in my application of perfume. In fact, I had decanted most of my perfumes (even edt!) into small rollerballs to discretely dab in measured amounts for safe sillage.
As time went on, I apply more and more. Now I just want my fragrances to waft great sillage and engulf me in a heavenly cloud of scent, leaving a long trail. I'm particularly guilty of taking a page from many middle Eastern afficianados and spraying copious amounts on clothes, coats etc at fragrance counters!
Does anyone else get jealous of the large amount of loose, billowing cloth (both men and women) from the Middle East get to scent? Their robes just seem perfect for catching a large amount of fragrance and making sure you're always trailing fragrance.

I have been applying heavily. It depends on the fragrance and the plans for the day, but typically I’m working from home and only interact with my significant other, and the more sprays the merrier with most of my fragrances.

If I have any reason to be worried about overspraying, I keep it to about 4 to 6 sprays (0.5 ml), otherwise double or triple that. I spay under my t-shirt and on the back of my hands and wrists in either case, and for the heavy applications I spray my neck behind my ears.

    Conservatively as well.

I really only care about pleasing myself with fragrance, so as long as I can smell it, I'm happy.

I have no desire to please others with my fragrance, nor would I want to offend them.

This holds true for me, too.

Usually behind earlobes, on neck, chest and sometimes wrists, tending to be rather generous, even slightly too abundant on the number of sprays, the result being usually anywhere from above average scent performance to loud and almost overpowering

Depends on the fragrance and the occasion...

Aoud Vanille by Mancera: 1 spray to the back of my neck if worn indoors, 2 sprays max if I’ll be outside in cooler weather.

4711: 8-10 sprays and no concern of creating a hazmat situation

I normally shower twice a day with some choice of cologne or perfume or Extrait - as far as it leaves a devastating cloud behind...I found regular shower nozzles to be inefficient, so I use a garden spray mechanism. Works well until the cologne bottle becomes empty and I've to change bottles between shower...

I'm surprised at there being quite a number of conservative spritzers here! Though I completely understand and can relate to using scent for personal enjoyment.
Sometimes though it's wonderful to have a beautiful scent cloud pass by when someone walks past. Or when you recognize a scent in passing.

The same way people from the west wear fancy clothing to make their presence noticeable people from the middle east wear fragrances. Just different strategies guided by tradition, culture and religion.
I usually spray conservatively and sometimes more sprays, depending on the fragrance.

1-3 sprays depending on perfume strength always seems fine for me.

I spray conservatively as well. My thinking is that you can always add more sprays but you can never subtract what’s already on you.

I don't care how great someone smells, I don't want to smell him from across the room. Likewise, I have no need to make those within a 20 foot radius of me aware of what great taste I have. Having them not notice it until they're standing right next to me is sufficient.

Therefore, one spray to the chest of most fragrances is adequate enough to give me pleasure all day. EDCs may require two or three.

I'm in the middle. 1 spray does absolutely nothing for me. On average, I would say i spray 4-6 sprays on my torso. I almost alway shave 2 layers of clothing on top of my sprays, that it wears more of a bubble around me. For stronger fragrances or i do 2 sprays. If I wish to get noticed, i do 1-2 sprays on my clothing instead.

It's situational. I lean conservative most days, but on days when I'm working from home or I know I won't be out and about until later in the day (e.g. on weekends), I'll go ahead and give myself a hearty dose of 5+ sprays.

For nice even, sustained sillage, I'll put my shirt on and spray under it to my chest and belly. Both my skin and my clothing benefits gets spritzed, and I get the benefits of body heat that you miss my spraying the outside of clothing. Seems to work well.

I try to aim for the fragrance being noticeable if someone sits right next to me, or almost right next to me.... It's always a tricky balance especially if we consider time.. Usually if I get a few good whiffs for myself during the day I'm happy.
2-4 sprays is probably the norm for me, that's mostly EDT and EDP (and a few EDC like Bvlgari Thé Rougue).
Salvador Dali PH or Hdp 1969: 1 spray.
    Dans Tes Bras 2-3 sprays.
    Dries van Noten 1-2 sprays.
    Angeliques sous la pluie 10-20

I could probably increase my amounts a little bit (not necessarily above mentioned) and still be rather safe but more noticeable. I think 2-3 is generally a very conservative amount for most EDT or EDP strength fragrances (again many fragrances are exceptions here).

As for applying on fabric, I thought about doing that extremely generously with Angeliques sous la pluie. That fragrance does not last very long on skin for me with any noticeable presence, but on fabric it does stick around albeit it doesn't project much. If someone is very close to you that might at least bump up the chances of them catching a whiff if all your fabric is fully sprayed.
With scents that have poor performance like ASLP I tend to spray my clothes and hair a lot. Anywhere on the head is probably great to make the scent travel far, esp if you are moving around and getting warm.

Heat (and probably moisture) can really re-invigorate fragrances.

Depending on the scent. I apply very liberally for the most part, but some people don't need as much to get the same results. Example being a manager at the dealership I work at. He wears Polo Black, I've asked him his spray routine he says between 3-5, 2 on the wrist, one on the chest and sometimes 1 behind each ear. You can smell him across the room and all day! It could be 9 hours into my shift and I can walk into a room he was just in and smell it almost sitting where he was just standing. It's astounding!
