Default Azzaro Pour Homme - Now and then (in the 80's)

As a teenager in the 80's , I remember Azzaro capturing my nose! I just thought I'd give it a sniff for old time's sake. Well, it was nothing like I remembered! The current one smelled more ozone/blue/fresh, and the one I remembered was much more Ambergris/Oakmoss/ vetiver (based on my very limited new knowledge of identifying fragrances...
    Anyone can confirm or argue?
Would like to know what happened to the original Azzaro...
    Thanks

    An oakmoss ban happened.

Your post really resonated with me! As a teenager in the 80's, I also had a bottle of Azzaro and loved it. Fast forward to this past week when I bought a bottle of current Azzaro online. I expected to have a full-on 80's flashback moment - but it never came. I found it unrecognizable. I'll have to spend more time with it to see if my brain eventually wakes up - but upon initial wearing, it failed to evoke any olfactory recall. And is not necessarily something that "2018 me" would even reach for. I'm not particularly gifted at breaking down notes but it seems to have a fairly prominent herbal accord (tarragon???) that I don't love.

Just for comparison sake, I also bought a bottle of Aramis Tuscany, another one that I had owned decades ago, and it held up well i.e., it fully evoked my scent memory from the early 90's and it is, indeed, something that I would still reach for.
