    Default Frankincense Fever!

    Good evening from Perth, Australia,

I am looking for another fragrance to provide a top up on my current frankincense journey and any suggestions are most welcome. I have read a few of the earlier posts on the topic and can say my taste definitely veers towards the Omani Frankincense of Amouage Gold and Dia which I have in my collection [along with Reflection]. I do love the opulence of these fragrances in the woody floral musk category, but my nose doesn't extend to anything of a more heavy, spicy, incense nature from Amouage or any other fragrance house to be honest.

I am certainly not restricting myself to niche only as I have many designer fragrances in my collection also, so any suggestion worth checking out, including any other Middle East options that fly under the radar are most welcome.

    Thankyou in anticipation.

    Best Wishes

    John.

The truest frankincense scents to me are:

    - CdG Avignon (light and etheral, with a tiny bit of smoke)
    - Heeley Cardinal (has an interesting linen note - think of a priests garments being stored with incense in a cupboard)
    - Montale Full Incense (my favourite hands down, an incredibly tenacious, true to life frankincense scent)

Perhaps Passion by Zegna. Has a nice frankincense note tempered a bit by cognac.

For a more fougere, almost "green" and resinous take/interpretation of incense in niche powerhouse scent that still remains affordable and quite widely available, recommending Floris Elite

Excellent suggestions. I would add Chant D'Aromes, Jubilation XXV, L'Eau Trois, Aqua di Parma Note di Colonia III, Black Gemstone.

I agree with all those suggested before me, especially Sahara Noir and Epic man. Although it was a limited release, if you can still find it (maybe a decant) try Armani Prive's Sable Fume. An absolute cracking great example of frankincense it its glory. It evolves into a warm, smoky, and sweet frankincense that is very much in the Middle Eastern style, but with an obvious Western touch. Still on Armani Prive, Bois D'Encens is a wonderful dark and dry incense.

Keiko Mecheri's Oliban is another fine example of a great frankincense. I've seen a lot of commentary that others don't pick up any olibanum at all in it, but to me it's as clear as day. Olibanum and pepper, with some added citrus zest. Not everyone's cup of tea but if you like incense I'd give it a try if you can find it.
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Essenza de Zegna, Zegna Essenze Amber Gold, Armani Privé Sable Or, Armani Privé Vétiver Babylone, Mancera Cedrat Bois, Acqua di Giò Profumo, Amouage Dia Man, L'Artisan Explosions d’Emotions: Amour Nocturne, Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot/Acqua di Bergamotto
Currently wearing: Sunshine Man by Amouage

Another vote for 07 Tanoke by Odin

I also love the following incense fragrances:

Cardinal by Heeley: So beautiful and clean smelling. A true olibanum classic.
Olibanum by Profumum Roma: This one is a must have in my collection as well. The addition of neroli/orange blossom gives this a beautiful feel.
Mortel by Cire Trudon: This is such a beautiful olibanum fragrance. I must have it!!!! AHHHH!!!
Eau Sacree by Heeley: Very rich and opulent olibanum. Get a sample first, but it is very nice.
Lavs by Unum: Heavier olibanum fragrance, but very nice.

Unum LAVS and Armani Prive Bois d’Encens are superb examples of frankincense and my very favourite of the (many) frankincense scents I’ve tried.

If you like Dia, the Jubliation 25 is definitely worth a look.
