Santal was a true masterpiece, I'm on the last 30ml of my back-up.
Timbuktu was - and STILL is nice - others might say differently.
Loving Eau du Navigateur, Vanilia, Dzing and Coeur de Vetiver Sacré too ...
The vintage ones and the staples are the ones to go for IMHO.

My favorites-- in order of preference:

Fleur d'Oranger 2007-- my favorite by far (limited edition, sold out in 2010 but once in a while a bottle appears on eBay for about $3/ml, which was the original price.)
Jour de Fête (2004 version) I chiefly wear this in fall/winter; it's a cozy scent.
Premier Figuier, but lately my husband wears it more often than I do. I've gotten away from fig scents generally.
Fou d'Absinthe --this was my husband's bottle, but he doesn't wear it any more, so I claimed it. I like it more as a room spray, though.

I sold my bottle of Mimosa Pour Moi. I found it cloying.
I also sold my Iris Pallida. I'm not fond of musk and iris is sometimes a bit depressing for me.

My daughter loved Tea For Two but has not worn it in a while. I think she is mostly sentimental about it. I think it would also be great as a room spray.

My husband loves L'Eau du Navigateur but wears it mostly in fall/winter.

I'm the opposite. I found Dzonghka to be a scrubber and I wanted it gone ASAP after I blind bought it!

I get that...nearly did the same thing! The first time I smelled it, I didn’t expect it to be quite so bitter. Getting rid of it crossed my mind, but as it turned out, my wife loved it and wore it. She came home one day and the base smelled fantastic...I didn’t even know what it was! So I gave it more chances and came to appreciate the opening in the context of the warm, “human” smelling incense base. I still think the opening is challenging, but worth it.

As I said in my other post I have loads and I mean loads from this house(thank you TKMaxx), very few I have really disliked. Some I never sniffed and when buying blind in TKMaxx went with my gut feeling, it did not let me down.

One I could never get the hype for was Timbuktu and it was one I actually smelt when it first came out. So many raving about it and all I got was a cardboard box. Yes, I know it was supposed to have a sawdust note but I got a cardboard box, sorry but I just never wanted to smell like a cardboard box.

I own and enjoy a number of fragrances from L'Artisan, particularly their earlier work. Honestly, except for the recent Mandarina Corsica, I've found most of the post-2009 releases wanting.

My very favorites are probably Tea for Two, Safran Troublant, and the discontinued Vanilia and Orchidee Blanc.

On My Perfume Tray November 2019

    1. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz - Gold Leaf (Heirloom Elixir No. 9)
    2. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz for American Perfumer - Aphrodisia
    4. Dawn Spencer Hurwitz - Vers Le Voute Etoilee
    4. Guerlain - Vol de Nuit extract (vintage)
    5. Edward Bess - Spanish Veil
    6. Le Labo - Gaiac 10
    7. Chanel - Coromandel
    8. Hiram Green - Shangri La
    9. L’Artisan - Mandarina Corsica
    10. Frapin - 1270

I haven't tried all that many. Of the ones I've tried I'd say Tea for Two doesn't do a thing for me.

Mimosa Pour Moi - Loved it at first smell at a local boutique in the 1990's. Sadly, it never lasted more than a few minutes on my skin.
Premier Figurer - I think this was the first time I experienced a fig scent. Exotic.

Longevity issues, I think, could be attributed to their use of natural ingredients.

These were the only two featured in said boutique, at the time, and I think that they were the first two fragrances from this house. Does anyone know for sure?

    Voleur de roses <3
    Dzing!
    Mechant Loup
    Passage d'enfer
    Bois Farine
    Timbuktu

Mechant Loup is the only one I bought twice and will buy more in future for me and mr. Obscur, as we actually wear this frag a lot. All the other of the mentioned L'Artisans are basically a part of my collection, I have them in the older bottles with golden round caps.

Dzongkha, Traversée du Bosphore, Nuit de Tubéreuse, Séville à l’Aube, Passage d’Enfer and Voleur de Roses are my favourites. I like Timbuktu, but only layered with a sweet lotion or oil underneath as it skews rather masculine on me.

Mechant Loup: The gateway scent that started it all.
Mandarine (Tout Simplement): Brilliant summer fragrance. A shame it was discontinued, but the longevity was practically zero.
    Seville a l'Aube

Vanille Absolument and Tea For Two start out as amazing scents. Unfortunately my nose gets fatigued of them after ~2 hours but I totally see why they are so popular.

Considering how many fragrances they have, I haven't been impressed with many. My few favorites....

Tea for Two: I do enjoy the opening and very late dry down, but the overall fragrance is ruined by the ashtray note in the middle.

Coeur de Vetiver Sacre: This is the natural alternative for those that love Tea for Two but just can't get past the ashtray note. CdVS smells very much like Tea for Two without the cigarette butts, and can usually be found for a much better price.

Batucada: A nice "beachy" scent that you don't hear much about. The very late dry down smells particularly great.

    Oh so many.

    Mûre et Musc Extreme
    Bois Farine
    Jour de Fête
    Safran Troublant
    Vanilia Absolument
    Piment Brulant

And really like Patchouli Patch...Traversée Du Bosphore...Premier Figuier.... Ananas Fizz (thought I haven't tried in years and it's on my re-test list).
