Default Your best consistent fragrance house

    Chime in!
Lol again in an effort to curb this 'hobby' I'm feeling of just sticking to one house.
What are your best and most consistent houses?
Probably looking for reasonably priced ones that the majority of us can access (plus I'm a bit of a anti mega dear frags kinda person! Kinda disillusioned width the mega luxury brand ethos sometimes etc. You understand m sure!)
I've got Lalique and Geurlain on me list...

Designer: Chanel, with YSL, Dior and Guerlain not far behind.

Niche: Editions de Parfums Frederic Malle. Amouage, By Kilian, Xerjoff and Creed have also been very consistent for me.

Also, MFK deserves a mention as they have a perfect record with me to date, although I've only sampled 6 from the line so far.

    Creed. By far.

But in the more affordable price range, possibly Kenneth Cole, Dior, or Mugler.

But sticking to one fragrance house would be like sticking to one music band or one TV show. Why?!
    Current Summer Favorites:

    1. Xerjoff - Nio
    2. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
    3. Dior - Homme Cologne 2013
    4. The Different Company - De Bachmakov
    5. Armani - Code Sport Athlete
    6. Montale - Aoud Legacy
    7. Dior - Homme Sport 2008
    8. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
    9. Ermenegildo Zegna - Sicilian Mandarin
    10. Creed - Pure White Cologne

Guerlain. Chanel. Hermes. These would all be pricier since I'm thinking of their private lines for the most part. At a lower price point...l'artisan or even serge lutens.

I find myself liking most of Etat Libre d'Orange. Not cheap, but at $95 or so for 50ml not too expensive either.

    Creed.

With the exception of Royal Mayfair, they haven't released a men's fragrance I dislike yet. And maybe I just need to give Royal Mayfair another shot.

Also, Slumberhouse. I blind buy every one of their releases, and even if I come across one or two that are difficult to wear because they don't match my style, they're still a lot of fun to explore and they're always interesting. I think Slumberhouse is getting better too, so I have even more trust in the brand now than before.

I'm tempted to add Dior to this list but they really threw me for a loop with Sauvage, which I hated and continue to hate. Guerlain is mostly consistent but they can also be a little hit-or-miss. Chanel is pretty solid, but I have hard time pinning down their aesthetic lately, so I don't really know what to expect from them.

I'd say CREED and Slumbehrouse for my two most consistent, reliable, and enjoyable fragrance houses.

Currently - Slumberhouse / Fazzolari and to a lesser extent Guerlain and Creed (barring their insane prices when released).

If you're after reasonably priced and available fragrances, it's hard to beat Dior in my opinion.

Creed and MFK would be up there for me but also Xerjoff, Acqua Di Parma, Roja, Amouage, Maitre Parfumer et Gantier, and Clive Christian

The styles vary so much. You can’t compare houses like Amouage to Creed or Creed to Malle etc.
Find out which houses have the most in a style/styles that you favor.

Among the ones encountered so far, based on a personal rating of their track record regarding both quality and remaining consistent in their quality:

Knize, Lalique, Floris, Penhaligon's, Frederic Malle, Caron, Lutens, Hugh Parsons, Loewe, Hermes, among others, in no particular order

You've listed a couple of good ones with Guerlain and Lalique.
For me, where 'access' includes the ability to buy samples or test in-store : Etro (samples from notino) - there's something about their house style and their base that I really enjoy; Comme des Garcons (I can test in-store at a CdG boutique) - I like their incense and woods thing; Hermes (test in department stores) and Etat Libre d'Orange (samples from notino).
Does not mean I like everything from a house, or that I would want to buy FBs of all their offerings. There are notes I am not keen on, no matter which house uses them in a scent, and the same goes for types/styles of scent. Houses that were good go can through dodgy patches, and vice versa.
Summer rotation : Guerlain Vetiver; Etro Palais Jamais and Shaal Nur; Penhaligon's Juniper Sling; Prada Infusion d'Iris EdP.
Summer obsessions : Knize Knize Ten; Etro Gomma; Mona di Orio Cuir; Andy Tauer Lonestar Memories; Caron Yatagan

In terms of consistency I'd say Chanel. Haven't encountered any where I don't think I'd wear, even if I'm not always excited to wear them (Allure Homme, Bleu) Though YSL is my top brand I have traded some of those away.

    Dior is #2.

In terms of favorite/exciting to wear: YSL, then Dior or Guerlain.
In rotation: YSL PH HC, Bogart Citytower, Fahrenheit, Paco Rabanne PH, Escada Magnetism for Men, Halston 1-12

    Wowsers,
Yeah definitely gotta get my sniffer into Dior.
YSL has crept up on my radar, with recent brushes with Rive Gauche, Opium, M7, Jazz...
Will have to leave my pretentions at the door.
Not sure what's its like in other countries, but here in the UK we have a 'thing'. The things is that excuse the derogatory terms, what we call 'chav' ( never liked it mesef) what the US might call 'trailer-trash' , that sort of demographic. And here at least it feels that they veer toward designer brands and kinda bring them down. No offence to anyone intended. I find it ironic that those who are the least privileged spend the most of they're income on designer Goods?!
Alas lesson to mesef, leave my assumptions and pretentions far far away.
