I think it's not a Duchaufour week yet, but a summer solstice one, so everyone should be able to participate in one way or another

Oh. Okay. I can do that too. As it is summer isnt that just kind of "wear a fragrance day"? Ill pick my summeryest things out though. Top of the head ill say L'homme ideal cologne will be used as one of them.

Yes, it's "wear a Summer Solstice fragrance" this week. As my collection of summer perfumes outnumbers those l keep for other seasons, my only problem will be narrowing down my choice(s).

teardrop, haha, it's a nice problem to have!
I also have quite a few summery choices, but since I'm going to metal festival tomorrow, it narrows down my choices a bit since I'm not going to wear anything sweet or flowery. I originally thought about Habanita, but it's VERY non-summery, so I'll probably stick with either Gucci Guilty Absolute (sour raspberry and woods evoke the smell of summer forests and leather goes well with metal, leather jackets and boots ), Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune (summery grapefruit with some slightly dirty cassis+patchouli) or Les Amoureux de Peynet by Molinard (sweet lemon and grapefruit, sour verbena, zingy ginger and some green plants for very fresh, very uplifting, very summery and very casual experience). Will probably decide tomorrow!

notspendingamillion, haha, you're mostly right! Though there are some brave people who still wear their ambers, ouds, tobaccos and leathers in the heat...brave and strong kind of people.

Also, I have a suggestion for our friends in Southern hemisphere: maybe it would be wise for them to synch with the Winter solstice fragrance, as it's Winter solstice in Australia, New Zealand and countries of South America and South Africa?

I'm going to wear Dior Fahrenheit. It's not something most folks consider a "summery scent" - but to me it smells like the summer of my childhood, complete with dry, dusty Texas grass and dirt, the musty, dusty lawn shed behind my parents' house (I loved to mow the lawn, probably because there was a riding lawnmower involved), and generally being dirty and hot outside in the blazing sun. Love it.

What could signify summer more than ripe tomatoes on the vine and figs? I'll seize any excuse to wear my beloved Ninfeo Mio by Annick Goutal.

    Nice to read everyone's desriptions!
I chose to go with Gucci Guilty Absolute - the sour raspberry and woods remind me of summer forests of my childhood, and the leather behind fits with the metal festival I'm going to.

For this morning l've opted for Golden Paradise fragrance mist by Hawaiian Tropic. l bought this bottle (very cheaply) on a whim at the end of last summer, & hadn't given it a proper try until today, as summer hasn't really arrived here yet. Based on the delicious signature scent of their suntan lotions, the notes include pineapple, coconut & warm sand. Wholly appropriate for the celebration of the sun!

    Happy Solstice, everyone!

I had originally planned to wear Via Camerelle by Carthusia, which reminds me of the sun-drenched streets of Capri (where I bought it! man that was an amazing trip) but a packing snafu means it didn't make it into my toiletries bag. Fortunately, I had this month's sample set from Bloom in my bag and low and behold - Sunsuality from Pierre Guillaume fit the bill perfectly. It's sunscreen and sand and honey sweet medlars ripe from the tree.

Happy solstice and loving seeing everyone's choices!

EDIT: just also want to note that my new summer perfume from Ffern is shipping today and I'm beyond excited!! Their spring fragrance was my "go to" for the last several months and I can't wait to see what they've come up with for the new season. That would have been another one good for this synch, but alas the stars didn't align.
My current top 5 scents of the moment:

    Tara Mantra by Gri Gri
    Orange Blossom by Lush/Gorilla Perfumes
    Cape Heartache by Imaginary Authors
Aqua Allegoria Herba Fresca by Guerlain

Happy Solstice! I went for Chanel Paris-Deauville, from a sample; sunny citruses and basil. I found it just a tad too sharp in the cooler months but on a bright summer morning, it's fantastic.

For the Summer Solstice sync, I'm wearing vintage Je Reviens extrait, from a bottle that looks like this (borrowed photo)

    s-l1600.jpg

I also have the beautiful Lalique skyscraper bottle shown in the ads below but I haven't opened it yet.

    gallery_hero_5508955-original.jpg

Je Reviens is often underrated due to its poor reformulations, but the original version is exceptional (not the 2004 Couture EDP). It is a cool woody complex floral, with deep notes of vetiver. It seems perfect for the longest day of the summer. If you haven't read Le mouchoir de monsieur's review of Je Reviens here, you need to do that right now...it may be my favorite BN review of all time:

"In 1932, the 5 would be considered sassy and common, even vulgar next to "Je Reviens."

    Nice choice!

This exchange had me on Google trying to figure out the meaning to "Ninfeo Mio" in English. After having some trouble with it, I found this comment on NST which explains why:

"I speak Italian [...] Ninféo Mio is nonsense, ninfea is a water-lily and ninfa a nymph… Ninfeo could be a fantasy name for a boy – and awakes expectations, combined with the adjective “mio” , to make that one very effeminate toy-boy"

I don't think it's as complicated as any of that. Goutal claims it was named for this garden structure ("nymph's cave") in a sort of 16th-century water park in Lombardy.

If you have 5 minutes, this is guaranteed to chill out your day:

Tonight will switch to Alien Sunessence, which I actually cannot stand in extreme heat. That "solar jasmine" note is just all screechy plasticy to my nose. But in coastal CA where it's mild and foggy, it's very pleasant.

I wore the Italian Zest flanker of Dolce and Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme today. Although Italian Zest sounds more like a salad dressing than a fragrance, I quite enjoy this one. It's supposed to evoke the feeling of zesty Mediterranean lemons, and that's pretty much what I get. I actually bought this on sale at the end of last summer, so this is really one of my first times wearing it. My wife also bought herself the woman's version, so we matched today.

Tonight I am still keeping with the summer sync theme, but I switched it up to Bond 9 Fire Island, which smells like sun screen at the beach. Can't get any more summery than that!
