I synced in Vetiverissimo - Bruno Fazzolari on Friday. It was slow at work so instead of trying to find something that it evokes, I figured I'd deploy my horrendous MS Paint skills and draw how it smells to me. I do this at home sometimes with colored pencils and printer paper, so if I were to physically draw Vetiverissimo, the flecks would be smaller, less densely spaced (and reach the edges), have less rounded boundaries, and have much thinner trails. Also the white is more like a sparkle, much smaller than the brick red, brown, and dusty oranges.

I just get impatient with the mouse, so the colored flecks came out looking a little...seminiferous. Oh well.

My choices are Dzongkha and Paestum Rose, and the latter feels more seasonal to me, fresh rose over sheer woody incense.

    Me too.
Unless I happen to have zero plans for Friday evening, then I could go to the stores to test some L'Artisan Parfumeur. Not very likely, but that's ant option I guess.

I left sequoia and Avignon back in Japan, so it’s either Kyoto or Jubilation XXV.
Mince to have a Duchaufour day that’s not in summer so I can enjoy the incense.
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.

I could go with either Ashoka or Amaranthine, but wore both recently. I’ll have to see what appeals in the morning.

I guess I'm out this week too. Given his prodigious output (~150 in the BN directory alone), I was surprised that my only Duchaufour bottle is Timbuktu, and no way am I wearing that in the high heat of summer. The sample stash yielded only Seville a l'Aube, Nuit de Tuberose, and Jubilation XXV, all equally inappropriate in 96F/35C temps.
Before the leaves fall, an all-green September:

yeah the only thing I have is a sample of Timbuktu and even in the relatively milder temps here (80F/27C) that still feels like a lot. I may cheat and swing into the Jo Malone store nearby and test the Honeysuckle and Jasmine that the directory has his name on.

I have loads by Bertrand Duchaufour Messe de Minuit original when did actually smell like a damp crypt and quite a few L'Artisans too.

    Decided on

Traversée du Bosphore by L'Artisan Parfumeur

Strange this beauty does not get much love when talking about L'Artisan. Turkish Delight and leather.

Today I will wear one of my all-time favourites : Bombay Bling.

I would love to try Chypre Palatin someday too.

I have samples of Avignon and Kyoto and of Paestum Rose and Sienne l'Hiver. I like all four. but I will go with Ostara today. It might be a bit too heady with narcissus for the warm weather, but a light application should work.

To this day, I wonder why Ostara was so quickly discontinued after its successful launch.

Poor Red is experiencing a Sync Friday Fail. On Fridays, you pays your money and you takes your chances! Sync Friday is the Las Vegas of the fragrant landscape. Hope it scrubs easily!!

I didn't have much for this week but scraped up a sample of L'Artisan's Skin on Skin. Really like this one, very similar to my beloved Tubereuse 1 by HdP. That also means it's in "do not need" territory but I certainly don't mind draining this sample!

S T Dupont Signature Pour Femme

Listed notes: aldehydes, tulip, nutmeg, violet, peach, bergamot and tangerine; middle notes are magnolia, iris, orchid, jasmine, lily-of-the-valley and rose; base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk, vanilla, vetiver, cedar and brazilian rosewood.

I don't get aldehydes. Magnolia, nutmeg, iris, light peach, ambery notes prevail on me. Cozy without being heavy.

Hoo boy, these geographical syncs have been tough ones this year:

07-12-19 - City #7: Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic

I thought 'caballeros' meant 'cowboys', but Google tells me it means 'gentlemen'.

The #1 attraction listed on Tripadvisor is a cigar factory, so that opens up lots of fragrant options. I'm tropical fragrance'd out at this point!

Coffee and vanilla. When I was there I ate a lot of spiced chicken and rice (think curry), fluffy white bread with fresh strawberry jam or pineapple jam, mangoes, bananas, plantains, and citrus fruits. Thinking of DR makes me think of oranges.
