Default How Similar Are Michael Kors 2001 And Frank Los Angeles Number 2?

    Greetings,

All over the internet, including Basenotes - people are saying that discontinued Michael Kors from 2001 and Frank #2 are VERY similar. Perhaps Kors being a bit more "dirtier" with the tobacco or more intense or harsh depending on the nose.

For those that have owned both - how similar would you say they are. If anyone still has both colognes, I would love a fresh review comparison.

I live in Canada and Frank 2 isn't available here, so since I love Kors so much and like to try any cologne that people say is very similar - I would greatly appreciate any definitive feedback before I place an order from the US.

    Thank you very much.

I sampled the FLA 2 and have no notes so that means I didn't care for it. I may be wrong but I recall it being very powdery and Michael for men was very different.

I'm always skeptical when people make comparisons, I've read HdP 1899 smells like Spicebomb - they aren't even in the same ballpark to my nose. I've seen Franck Boclet Tobacco and Chopard Oud Malaki compared to Tobacco Vanille which is a head scratcher

Except the updated version kills everything great about the original. It's no longer even a tobacco cologne.

True on the tobacco but somehow nevertheless, they're still similar enough to me. The background suede and honey smell is prominent in both.

I think the tobacco note was actually essential in this. It wasn't like removing a note that most people don't pick up on anyway.

It is also less intense. I remember when Kors was first released - some people on here said the opening was way too strong and it was like choking on gasoline. That actually made me want to try it even more, because I was looking for a real masculine powerhouse cologne that the time.

So essentially Kors reformulated to a more watered down generic version for the general public since the original only seemed to appeal to fragrance enthusiasts which unfortunately wasn't enough to make the original a success.

Don't get me wrong though, it is better than nothing if you don't have the original Kors.

On me, Michael Kors lasts and projects much more than Michael. It's not better, but it lasts longer and is stronger on me than Michael.

When you say "Michael Kors 2001" do you mean Michael Kors, [Michael](https://www.fragrantica.com/perfume/...en-2417.html)?

It's been a while since I've sampled these two, but I recall them being quite different. I sort-of understand the comparison, but they're very different. I greatly preferred Frank No. 2.
