Default Suddenly showing eBay ads at page bottoms

I am suddenly showing ads at the bottom of pages. I checked my general settings and the " show ads" choice is still checked as " no".
Only the fool would take trouble to verify that his sentence was composed of ten as, three bs, four cs, four ds, forty-six es, sixteen fs, four gs, thirteen hs, fifteen is, two ks, nine ls, four ms, twenty-five ns, twenty-four os, five ps, sixteen rs, forty-one ss, thirty-seven ts, ten us, eight vs, eight ws, four xs, eleven ys, twenty-seven commas, twenty-three apostrophes, seven hyphens and, last but not least, a single!

Go ahead. Test the veracity of this (1960s I think) pre-computer generated masterpiece of self-referential sentences.

It's happening for me as well, even though I use Ad Blocker Plus. Used that to manually get rid of these.

Okay, it should now hide for BN+ users who have the no-ads option.

    Background on the eBay ads:

Ideally I'd like to have no ads on the site, but that's not going to allow the site to support itself. I'm trialling these to see if they work better than Google ads, as I'd rather show ads for useful things than "find singles in your area" type stuff. So, I basically wrote some code to try and work out what fragrance each thread is about, and then show eBay listings based on that -- so the ads should be relevant to the thread.

Grant if a single plus member such as myself allows ads and it means $ for Basenotes if I allow ads let me know.

^^^ I was just thinking that "Am I the only person who likes seeing the ads?" and how I'd like to patronize anybody who bought BN space. I mean, I'm gonna buy....and I'm happy to buy from people who pony up.

Same here. Plus I don't really mind seeing ads. Sometimes they're kind of informative. I whitelisted Basenotes on my ad blocker for that very reason.

I actually see these as a shortcut to buy what's being talked about, which is neat.

I counted this as an experiment. Didn't want to bother mentioning it the other day. Adds at the bottom aren't all that annoying to me.

lt doesn't bother me if it's earning money for the site's upkeep.
