Default Sauvage by Christian Dior Versions

Need some help deciding which version of Sauvage to purchase. Can’t decide between the EDP (2012), EDT, or the Parfum?

I thought Sauvage was released in 2015.

    I'd go with the Parfum.

    Is that the question?
It’s tragic to think that heroic man’s great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

I'm gonna go EDP with my next purchase of the three.

Eau Sauvage = jasmine hedione, citrus, herbs, and chypre base 1966-present
Sauvage = grapefruit, geranium, ambroxan, and norlimbanol "karmawood" 2015- present

These represent entirely different moods, and dare I say entirely different generations mentally.

Eau Sauvage was a cleaned-up take on the animalic chypres Edmond Roudnitska had been making for years, and the first jasmine-lead masculine on the market, not to mention first notable use of hedione which is now commonly-found in perfume. It's dapper in the streets, wild in the sheets. Perfume is richer and sweeter, with less chypre elements, but greater performance.

Sauvage is a distillation of the 2010's synthetic "nü powerhouse" vibe lead by ambroxan (a newer synthetic amber) and norlimbanol (a newer synthetic wood smell) that is characterized by massive projection and a sweet citrus accord riding on an a "scratchy" base. It's wild 24/7 with no chill. Perfume is actually rounder, softer, and more tame than EdT version overall.

    Hope this helps.
oh look, I have a signature

Tending to recommend and preferring any perfume/EDP version of almost any Dior masculine scent- almost irrespective of both any individual male fragrance and its possible version (s)/reformulation (s)

Zealot, this is by far one of the best description of each of these scents that I have ever seen. Totally agree with your short and accurate summary for both. Simply couldn't have said it better myself.

Eau Sauvage Parfum (original) (2012), if you can find it, since it's been discontinued. Otherwise, I'd go for Eau Sauvage Parfum (2017 version).
