Thunderstorms went through in the early hours of this morning so the warm temps of yesterday have been replaced by rain, wind & a drop in temp. - it's currently reading 15.4C on the temp. gauge outside our back door & it's just after noon here. This afternoon, I'm making some Christmas themed soaps, room sprays & hand creams. I might do a couple of body creams, too!

I'm wearing Santal Majuscule by Serge Lutens, an interesting mix of dry cocoa, rose & sandalwood.

    Happy Sunday all!

It doesn't get dark here until about 9pm at Christmas time because of daylight savings. Temps. can be anything from 20C up to 40C (this was our Christmas Day temp. two Christmases ago). Most Christmas events are held outdoors, for example, there are many Carols by Candlelight in the park events (usual start time is either 8pm or 8.30pm) held across Australia by local communities. Some do the full traditional dinner, others go the relaxed route of a picnic or BBQ at the beach or seafood & salads in the backyard.

You know that be an interesting weather to have the Christmas holidays in. For many of us that would be summery weather. Holiday celebration outdoors as oppose to indoors that's wild! I wonder if there's any kind of restrictions like burning fire logs in the chimney in hot humid weather or having Christmas lights outside all night long. How would the media outlet portray the Christmas holidays as? Snow can't exist in that kind of weather. I doubt Santa Claus can be portrayed wearing a santa suit, santa elves can't wear their usual elf clothes, and snowmen can't exist! At the very least I hope the eggnog can still exist.

How clever of you to be able to make all those scented gifts, cuddlecat!

My SOTD is going to be Voile d'Ambre by Yves Rocher. I just scored a small bottle
of this on ebay. It's just up my street with all those Christmassy notes of myrrh, frankincense
    and opoponax.

Good morning everybody I remember in 2000 I was in South Africa for 3 months. That was from October -December. So I got to experience the Christmas-decorations in 40 degrees and sunny weather. That felt quite weird I didin't really get into the Christmas-spirit until I got home to 2 meters of snow that year and northern lights. But it was a great 3 months in South Africa. I miss Cape Town from time to time... Anyway. Sotd for today is Dior homme. Hope all have a great day

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

I spent Christmas in South Africa twice as well, we had outdoor barbecues and went to the beach. It was odd but fun. Now I spend winters in San Diego, it’s cooler than SA but still quite sunny and warm.

    Today I’m in Coco Blanc.

Quarry just act like you're in Miami - it is hot and humid here. I sweat all afternoon cleaning the apartment. Took a shower and grabbed something I haven't worn in a long time:

    Chant d'Aromes by Guerlain

This was *the* fragrance that got me to like aldehydes. There is something about the peach note, the aldehydes and the oakmoss that just clicked big time. I wear it to cool down and it always does the trick. My bottle doesn't look like the above, rather it's one of those smooth glass columnal, test-tube shaped 'refill' bottles that went into those goldtone, grilled atomizer housing bottles that were all the rage at Guerlain in the 80's/90's. I have not smelled 'current' Chant d'Aromes so I do not how know it's fared these days, but Guerlain has been kind to it's chypres so there's hope I suppose.

JonRodgers - I forgot to say WELCOME BACK yesterday. As you can see, you were missed. And it really touched me that you remembered my birthday last week, all the way from NZ.

Christmases in Miami are rarely cold. When they are they are very welcomed. I will be in Orlando during Xmas this year so hopefully it will be a bit cooler up there, but I'm not honestly not expecting it.
