    Default Extracted by Preferred Fragrances

My second thread about Preferred Fragrances within a week. I promise I don't work for them! At any rate I was at Walmart tonight and saw they have a fragrance line called "Extracted." The idea behind the name is they use essential oils for the scents.

There were testers available so I gave them a shot. The one referred to as Green was my favorite, but still not my style. The Blue one smelled like the original Jaguar (which always reminded me of the inside of a Chinese medicine/herb market.) But then I tried the Brown one. My first thought was "why am I smelling Knize Ten at Walmart?"

Well I'm sure I'll be banned now, so for my parting words I'll say that I'm not a fan of Knize Ten, (rubber, and yes, second ban now!) but there it was, albeit weaker to be sure. It's been several hours now since I sprayed it (once!) on the top of my hand and the smell is still there, even after several hand washings. Now it smells more like Helmut Lang Cuiron. I own that and am a fan (redemption?) but I don't know if it has mixed with my hand soap or if that's the natural dry down.

I'm going back tomorrow to buy the big 3.4 oz bottle for $9.88. The full set is sold in four .5 ml bottles for the same price. The extra bottle is a limited edition frag that wasn't available to test. I think the bigger bottles are a better deal.

Why am I buying something I don't like? I want to make sure my nose isn't fooling me with that heretic Knize Ten jibber jabber and if it does dry down to Cuiron, that's worth the wait and price.

CVS sells them online (for $12.99 though) and here's the link for reference:

Yeah, so... anyone else tried any of these yet? I tried searching the forum but nothing came up.

Are these supposed to be "imitation" scents or "our version of " scents?

These are apparently original creations by them. Can you imagine if they put "Our Version of Knize Ten" on the box? That would take some major balls! lol

My wife has Stilleto. I'm pretty sure it's by preferred fragrance. 3.00 from dollar general when they had it. It's an impression of Jimmy Choo. I'll be dammed if it doesn't smell amazing and last at least 8 hours. Very strong also. Two sprays is all that is needed, and it sprays verry little also. Wife and daughter use it several times a week and over a year not one tenth of the bottle is gone. We were so impressed we tried the other three they had almost immediately. The Paris hilton one flat sucks, the victorias secret bombshell smells great but has slight longevity issues sometimes, so its hit and miss. But damn the Stilleto is just amazing.

Well I bought the big bottle of "Brown" and I'm sticking to my original claims (emphasizing a weaker version but otherwise I won't repeat them in this post because they are just too fantastic.) It's a head scratcher for sure. Hoping someone will eventually find themselves at Walmart to back me up or dispute me. But don't blind buy it based on my opinion. I'd never forgive myself if you disagreed!

There is a review of Brown on YouTube. The guy claims it smells like Tuscan Leather. Does Tuscan Leather smell like Knize Ten? I've never tried it. https://youtu.be/D2taFpEgkdQ

Brooklyn Fragrance Lover did a review of one of these.. I believe the brown one.. he was fairly impressed and said it was worth the money.

(oops, I guess I should read the whole thread before replying )

No worries. "Brooklyn Fragrance Lover" is much more congratulatory in a post than "The guy." LOL. I love the part when he yells "$12.99! Are you kidding me?" Haha!

Note: if you are actually interested in trying this Eau de Cologne, you should use this link to check if it's available at your local Walmart. I just happened to check my area and it only shows my store and no others in my vicinity -- and there are a ton of Walmarts around here!

"Knize Ten Lite" is my new name for it.

They didn't have any of the individual bottles at my Wal-Mart but in the middle of the aisle they had a 4 pack of the Extracted line in 15ml bottles (spray) for $10. I figured what the heck and got a package. The four frags were:
    lime-bergamot-violet-vetiver
    Citrus-coriander-pepper-cedarwood
    Amber-suede-pepper-musk
    neroli-orris-white peony

    Haven't tried any yet.

So I applied 1 spray on my wrist of the Amber-suede-pepper-musk about 30 minutes ago.
Comparing it with Cuiron, I'd say Cuiron come on stronger with a pungeant note before delving into the leather notes. The Amber-suede starts straight out into the leather note. About 20 minutes in a more subtle pungency develops. I'd say projection so far has been about 2 feet (tough to tell since I'm wearing Dunhill '34 today which seems to compliment this one.) There's also a slight sweetness with this which I don't get from Cuiron.
Probably prefer this so far to Gucci Guilty Absolute if I'm comparing straight leathers - that one is a bit too linear, might be good for layering rather than a straight scent.
This one has been good so far, but we'll see how it continues to develop.
    ...
Ok so now it's further developed, maybe an hour and a half later. The base is on the sweet side, but hardly much projection, I'd say 6 inches.

(Aside: Dunhill for men 1934 is still going on about 7 hours later, also projecting about 6 inches but silage is greater)

Thanks for trying it out. I wore it on my arms yesterday and, indeed, lasting power is not fantastic. I also bought "Green" and it actually lasts longer. And the notes "lime-bergamot-violet-vetiver" are definitely more straight forward and noticeable.

Do you regret buying the set? How is neroli-orris-white peony? That one is only available in the set, not alone. Thanks again.

Sorry I haven't tried the other ones. I'll let you all know my opinion as I try them. No regrets buying it, the risk is about the same as getting 4 vials from fragrancenet honestly, and even if I only love one, 15 ml will take me a long time to use up.

Update: 18ish hours later the scent is still on my wrist. (1 inch projection) I wouldn't expect a more diffuse spray like a blast to the chest to last as long though.

The neroli-orris-white peony sounds kinda unisex and not my usual powerhouse/classic ouvre. I'm a sucker for violet so sounds looking forward to that. The breakdown amber-suede-pepper-musk sounds about right, but I didn't get much pepper. Good scent though, just not sure I'd buy it outright since I have Cuir Ottoman, Curion, Knize Ten, Royal English Leather, English Leather, yada yada yada that fill that leather itch. Probably closer to Cuiron (but definitely not a clone to my nose) from what I have. But for someone who wants to get something with a prominent leather for not much money, I think this could be up their alley.
