Question Ever notice dust floating in your fragrance?

I got a bottle of Goldfield and Banks Pacific Rock Moss and it has dust floating in the bottle. Even saw a piece of something in there too. Anyone else ever see dust in their frags?

There have been several discussions here about sediment and floating particles in fragrances, and the consensus is that it's nothing to worry about.

Particles happen, it's nothing to sweat, but I wouldn't be thrilled with the something else in there part. You're saying it's something other than dust? Like maybe a paint chip? Shark tooth?

I personally have not noticed anything like that in my fragrances but have read where others have definitely experienced that.

+1 Some months back, someone here posted a snap of a bottle from MFK that had an insect in it. I think it was an ant? I do not recall with certainty, but I recall seeing the post about it. I own several from MFK and have not had any problems.

Yeah, I remember that one. It was rather humorous.

I have several fragrances with sediment floating around, but it doesn't seem to have an impact on the scent.

I have a bottle of perfume with a tiny bug in it. It looks like a flea. It amuses me to no end. There he is, drunk on Jil Sander, preserved until the end of time.

It is fine. There was a thread about Rojas Doves with particles floating around and the consensus was that it was fine. Don’t worry.

It may not be a health issue, but if one pays Roja Dove prices, one should not receive a fragrance that has particles floating in it. That is like receiving a plate of food with a hair in it. It may not be fatal, but who wants a plate of food with someone's hair in it?

Question is if the sediment is due to a poor filtration process, or whether it occurs due to the crystallisation of some ingredient(s) when coming in contact with air when using the fragrance. If its the latter, then the manufacturer can't do that much about it really.

I remember where a Basenoter posted a photo with a fly intact in the bottle floating among the liquid. Was that the one you are talking about or was there another?

I've never seen anything of the sort, despite meticulous efforts to observe any kind of particles, after having read the aforementioned posts.

I've had these little orange/blown flecks in a bottle of XS for years and it seems to be totally fine. A little disconcerting to see but hasn't affected the smell.

I am not sure. To the best of my recollection, the snap of the bottle I saw looked like a tiny ant, not a fly.

I have primarily noticed it with the older bottles, and with time they develop, for examples a bottle of A*men I purchased 10 years ago has tons of particles in it now that must have appeared in the last few years or so. Also the final 5ml or so of Lolita Lempicka Au masculine developed a lot of particles in it the last few years I had it, they looked like tiny confetti squares. As for new purchases at most I've seen one or two small particles in 2 bottles. Hasn't negatively affected the smell as far as I know.

LOL @ your username and the question....

But yes, I have noticed this on several occasions. But I never remember it seeming to have any kind of impact on the smell of the fragrance itself.
