Thread: Dress Sneakers

    Default Dress Sneakers

Now I'd never wear them for Monday through Thursday, or for a Sunday morning at church, but I'm getting into the "dress sneaker" trend for casual wear. Just got a couple pair of Bruno Magli's from Nordstrom Rack. Last year it was lace-up dressy boots for me!

These are what I am wearing in the office this very moment. We're business casual, but I consider them "dress sneakers". These are Ted Baker Orlee.

Not familiar with the Magli sneaker but have many of his dress shoes. I like wearing sneakers at home and out doing errands as they are so comfortable but when I was working, I never wore them to the office or at anytime work related. I bet yours look just wonderful Chuck!

My first Magli box arrives today. I already own a pair made by Florsheim and a pair by J&M. I am a little nervous about wearing them for casual Friday, though.

Great topic. I love shoes. I'll be wearing a.testoni sneakers for casual Friday. Will post a foot selfie of them too.

So rock those Magli's with confidence Chuck!

I wear pants like those in different shades for our Wednesday night church services, which are more casual. Great opportunity for the sneaks, too!

For my "day job," I'm a Creative Director, so we can dress pretty funky. Dress sneakers are as dressy as I get. I think I'd wear them everywhere except a wedding or funeral. My favorite brand is M. Gemi: https://mgemi.com/mens-sneakers/ I have two from them. Very comfy. I've got two of them in this style:

Today I'm wearing some medium-high tops, similar to chukka boot style:

Here in Miami everyone wears 'dress sneakers' to the office all the time.

My newest obsession are those Nike Moon Racer sneakers. They're so dope - love that huge oversized swoosh!

I've had a pair of Bruno Magli high top sneakers that I bought at Nordstrom for a little over a year like the ones below, they are pretty comfortable and seem to be well made.

I also picked up some Bacco Bucci Gasparis like the ones below from Norstrom Rack about 6 months back, they are also very comfortable.

Damn, those are dope! Haven't seen those before. I've got my eye on customized Air Force 1 high tops, but these Moon Racers are on point.

Re: dress sneakers, I have a pair of Prada high tops but they don't see much action. I've been all about air max 90's and flyknit trainers.

It is very nice. I have a dark blue pair from Official Program, so I got the M. Gemi's in light blue. I already had a dark green pair earlier and knew how comfortable they were. They've only gotten more comfortable over time and not a scratch on them. It's handpainted leather. The sizes are Italian. I'm a size 9 U.S. and a perfect 42 there.

This style looks a lot like Hoka running shoes. I have a pair of them at work, and they are really comfy and great for running if you like good arch support.

Those are very similar to the Bruno Magli’s I bought. I got black and cognac.

Wore my Becket Simonon today. They have a purchase model where they only make them on-demand so you have to wait longer for them to be made, but the price is about half that of similar style manufacturers. They are a bit narrow. Nice, but the M.Gemi's are more comfy.

Well, I gave it a shot for work today. I think it depends on the individual and maybe the work setting. I felt like a fish out of water in these sneakers. Very not myself.

I think the Cole Haan Zero Grand Wingtips and my Penny Loafers are as casual as I can be at work. But at least I tried!

I'll save my dress sneakers for casual away from work settings.

It’s good to try something new, but you gotta be you and you know how you feel best! I can wear jeans any day of the week at a marketing/advertising agency. It’s a different environment.

You guys are so lucky to be able to wear these shoes. My feet are so wide(EEEE) and no one makes these types of shoes in my size.

I don't think Cole Haan is still making these (I couldn't find them on their site today), but this is my best pair in that vein:

You know who else does this style well is Fratelli Rossetti--FYI there is a sale on in their Madison Avenue store. They really get it right.

I'm really starting to come around on dress shoes, even wingtip, with rubber athletic soles. With a suit, it gives it a sporty, casual look. So you can look professional but not quite as stuffy. However, I have seen it on some in the office, with khakis and a dress shirt, and it looks kind of ridiculous. Tread carefully, lol

I love the M. Gemi brand. Just bought my 3rd pair recently. I know have a dark green and a light blue plus most recently an “oak” color in a slightly different style. They are so comfortable, and I love the look. I’m a Creative Director so I don’t have to care about being formal or dressy. I happened to wear the blue ones today.

I could see wearing classic stan smiths or air force 1's, all white or all black, with dress clothes or even a suit. I personally would not do it however.

Definitely vintage and badass, especially Air Force 1, I wouldn't categorize them as dress sneakers.
Everyone is free to do their thang, tho! Wear it with a suit, I don't have any gripe with that. I don't think those choices with a suit would look good....maybe a sport coat with dress pants.
