    Carre Blanc

    Top notes:
    Fig, citrus, Vetiver
    Heart notes:
Fig, papaya, rotten fruit accord similar to Pulp by Byredo

Smells like a party; I like it. I do think it would give me a headache to wear it. Later on it’s more like a rave than a party. The drydown is pretty much a pulp clone with more fig.

Yeah I wonder what aromachemical/accord that is that reads as fig to me? I noticed it isn’t among the notes. Though not much of my experience is listed in the notes. I had to double check to make sure I had the right sample.

To me, Carre blanc was a mix of synthetic notes-some of which may indeed register as a strange, sharp fig leaf note. So that's probably that. Fig my love is hyperrealistic fig.

Anyway, this was my comment on carre blanc

Haha! Hilarious review. Hopefully it doesn't drydown to the aftermath of a rave.

Nicely done. Carre Blanc was pretty loud and chaotic. I came out of it with my ears ringing.

    Community:

Lime, ginger, mint, banana peel, cucumber

Refreshing, lightweight, spa-like, smells like a specific functional product for facial skincare, but I can’t place it

    Heart notes of cucumber

Vetiver or woods in the drydown, still lots of cucumber

It strikes me like an eau de cologne, but only on skin. It would be nice to keep on the refrigerator in the summer.

No not really... despite the cucumber I don’t really perceive the melon that signals Calone. But I think it’s very structurally similar to an aquatic, if that makes sense?

I was asking because I do perceive a very aquatic background. But I am oversensitive to the note and cannot stand it. This is probably the best aquatic I've ever smelled (together with Lys Mediterranee), and one i would almost wear. Almost, but not quite.

I’m with you on that. The only aquatic I wear is Un Jardin Sur Le Nil. I’m generally not a fan of the genre. I’m not sure I’d wear this, but that’s because I have other things that fulfill the same function.

    Nice!

Have you smelled Eau Radieuse by Humiecki & Graef? It's one of my favorite fragrances that has a green-banana note + The Zoo creator Christophe Laudmiel was the perfumer for it also.

I thought Community was one of the better ones in the pass. To me it was a bit green and slightly aromatic. The fruit was more like a tart grapefruit.

I didn’t get grapefruit, but it’s a really good fragrance. I am picky about this genre and it’s definitely a good one. I also noticed it was very different on paper v. skin. I sprayed paper, but got my fingers accidentally in the process. And it was much more green on my hands, and lasted less long, though still pretty long. The paper lasted all day.

    Spacewood:

Blinding and metallic. I go nose blind quickly for this one, but it lasts for more than a day on paper. Kind of a creamy sandalwood-esque accord, but really woods have to be suggested to me by the name or I would not assume it was supposed to be a woody fragrance. It’s a blinding and scrubbed version of Tam Dao, more or less. Not a fan of this one.

Fresh woody, cloves, cardamom, cumin. Interesting! Kind of a blinding, scrubbed Jeera Rice. Super interesting. Might put this one on skin tomorrow.

I didn't like either of these.

Louis had a strong cumin/clove opening which was polarizing. I got some of the orange blossom florals and cedar later in the scent.

Spacewood was the complete opposite being a subtle scent with floral and metallic notes. I couldn't detect the wine note.

I didn’t get a wine note, either. In general, I find the fragrances to be very, very bright and therefore somewhat hard to process. I’m liking Club Design, but I want to gather my thoughts on it before posting.

I didn't like Spacewood either, not as exciting as the others. I had a different interpretation of Louis, but I want to see if others have it as well before discussing.

Club Design I would consider the darkest fragrance in the pass. I'll let you get your initial impressions down before I continue.

    Back to Louis:

    Once again, with feeling!

This is much different on skin. The first spritz features a blinding note with a lot of cumin, but thankfully all that dissipates quickly. After that, it’s kind of a modern rose/spices chypre, complete with Bergamot, rose, cinnamon, clove, cumin, and a generalized floral heart note with something fruity in there, too. Reminds me of Pour Monsieur EDP here. A few minutes later, the rose and spices are mostly gone, replaced with some WACs and a celery seed/tomato leaf note. The overall effect as it settles is of a modern aromachemical riff on Egoiste.

The drydown after an hour or so is disappointingly faint and smells sweet.

Edit: I see that it’s orange blossom, not rose. But I swear there are moments I smell a supporting rose such as the rose in Knowing or Egoiste: understated and even vegetal.
