Still riding the Declaration wave, moving over to the Essence branch of the family today (inspired by Hazel's '2018 delights' thread).

I saw on the news that it's snowing on the beaches of the Greek islands. Someone should make a perfume that smells like that. Frosted Mediterranean herbs and salty ocean water: sounds like a job for Bruno Acampora.

    Morning everyone!

It's getting quite chilly here, so I'm trying to bring spring and summer back with Nroli & Orchide by L'Occitane.
I think it's a bit too sweet for me in the morning, but great during the day and in a quiet evening. I think my sense of smell and my likes and dislikes in mornings, afternoons and evenings greatly differ and I'm not sure how to go about it, is that normal?

Oh, but neroli is just so great. Why?
"In aromatherapy, neroli oil is valued for its calming and relaxing scent, which acts as a tranquilizer that can help alleviate anxiety and heart palpitations, relieve insomnia and even prevent or treat stress-related depression." <--- I'd say, hail neroli, especially when feeling overworked, stressed and a bit anxious, which is quite common at least to me during winter months. Maybe this bit of information will be useful to you, too

Have a nice day everyone, and happy birthday to everyone whose birthdays are today!

    Morning all!

ClockworkAlice, l know what you mean about neroli. l find it very uplifting, & orange blossom has a similar effect on me.

Today l'm sampling The Actress by St Giles. This has a strong scent of orange blossom, although it's not listed as a note. l think it's the combination of bitter orange with lily that gives this effect. More thoughts to come later in the Sample of the Day thread...

LOL! I glean "advice" from many folks here but, ultimately my nose knows what it wants. I never consider what I buy or sample as wasted money, if it turns out I don't like something. I have too much fun trying new things. Frankly, there are really very few perfumes I have ever truly considered "stinkers". Perfumery is truly the most fun "hobby" I've ever had. I'll keep trying new things for many years to come, I suspect. It's all good!

No, it's not just you! Especially now that we're finally getting some sunny days, despite the frosty mornings.

Happy Anniversary, dear kewart! May there be many, many more.

    Cuba Paris Cuba Orange today
Only the fool would take trouble to verify that his sentence was composed of ten as, three bs, four cs, four ds, forty-six es, sixteen fs, four gs, thirteen hs, fifteen is, two ks, nine ls, four ms, twenty-five ns, twenty-four os, five ps, sixteen rs, forty-one ss, thirty-seven ts, ten us, eight vs, eight ws, four xs, eleven ys, twenty-seven commas, twenty-three apostrophes, seven hyphens and, last but not least, a single!

Go ahead. Test the veracity of this (1960s I think) pre-computer generated masterpiece of self-referential sentences.

    Thank you for your welcome!
And yeah, I'm absolutely waiting for spring, too! Though with loads of snow and a chilly -9 C (or 15.8 F) outside spring isn't exactly around the corner yet. I always think that winter should only last through December, and not until April, as it usually does here.

Special salutations to BN veteran kewart and to Kaern.

HoP, you don't have to put "hobby" in quotes. I think this fragrance thing is a totally bitchin' h-o-b-b-y. To borrow from Marie Kondo's phrasing, the simple pursuit of "does this bring you joy?" provides the greatest of pastimes.

Sure is! I'm simply not ready for scent first thing in the morning and have to wait until a particular desire leads me to the right sotd. In the evening I'll often put a sweet, heavy scent (which rarely appeals in the a.m.) on the top of my hands to smell as I go to sleep.

Brrrr. She's a nippy one today, she is. Have to throw more "bois" on the fire -- Feminite du Bois that is.
