Itís tragic to think that heroic manís great destiny is to become economic man, that men will be reduced to craven creatures who crawl across the globe competing for money, who spend their nights dreaming up new ways to swindle each other.

Both iris and leather can go to extremes for me. Iíve found some where those notes are incredible, and also times where they bother my olfactory so much Iím almost angry.

I have experienced that too. But not as much that I could say that I don't like sandalwood.

For me it's oakmoss I'm having trouble with. But I have learned that vetiver is troublesome for me too.

For years I have messed around with, and worn, various sandalwood EOs, and I have never gotten a sweat-like or body odor element from them, even during the prolonged drydown.

I have, however, noticed that effect, slight but detectable, in blends of sandalwood EO with other essential oils, notably when combined with any of the cedarwood oils, and most especially with Virginia and/or Texas Cedarwood EO. Those combinations do produce a vaguely cumin-like element in the aroma, but it is really just a hint of a background note, at least for me.

I bought a bottle of vetiver about eight years ago, tinkered with it a bit, including at dilution, and decided that I did not like it --- I found it just too overpowering and frankly coarse. But recently I have been messing with it again, and I find that in high dilution, at 1% or less, it can be quite interesting, particularly the drydown. Vetiver seems analogous to patchouli to me, in that until it is well diluted and then exposed to air for some time, it is harsh, coarse, musty, and not very appealing, but it can dry down to something quite elegant and ethereal.

Too much of anything is never a good thing but these notes in any large dose don't sit well with me:

    Cumin
    Civet
    Oud

    Cumin
    Ambrette Seeds
    Musk Mallow

Those three can ruin something pretty easily if too much is added.

Immortelle is another one that's tricky. There are a couple fragrances where I really like how it's used, and others where I don't.

Not as such. I also eat everything that won't poison me.

The very few perfumes that made me feel a little bit sick probably only did so as I over applied. Worst offender was possibly The Dreamer. I guess tobacco could be a note that I'm not very fond of as I don't like most real life tobacco smells but then again, I quite happily wear other scents that seem to have tobacco notes.

(I realize that my nose is probably 'off kilter' in loathing these very common notes so profoundly.)

PS: I LOVE the aroma of celery seed! It is one of my "go-to" spices in cooking, as well.

Quite a few notes, rather than just one, including but not limited to:

apple, too "oily" heavy sweet rose and florals in general, too smoky and heady incense, cumin, (not all, just) too sweet "incense stick style" sandalwood, tomato leaf

Anything overly sweet... Cotton Candy, Vanilla, Honey = Scrub

Also, heavy-handed Cumin and the B.O. quality is a no-go.
