Default Frags For "The Insomniac" What do you wear while counting sheep?

Insomnia is a nasty problem for many these days. Every now and then I will get up and find a frag that will intrigue in the wee hours of the night.
Instead of fretting over lost sleep. I reached for Molinard Les Senteurs Badiane a few times. I found the star anise to be very calming. Spraying it on a scarf is preferred as the scent doesn't change much.

    It works. Usually.

    What works for you?

I tend to wear a fragrance at night as I wind down. It's actually the only time I wear Royal Mayfair. There's something relaxing about that medicinal rose accord. I used to wear Oud Fleur as well but that resinous dry down finally turned me off of that fragrance. Otherwise, it's usually something darker like Jazz Club or D&G The One. They're relaxing to my nose. I once wore Tobacco Oud to bed and was almost booted out of the room by my SO .

I've used Kai oil, Shideido's Rosarium, and Shay & Blue's Salt Caramel lately. All three suit me to a perfect degree without being too stimulating.

Promethazine with a rum chaser. (joking)

Or, something with lavender vanilla cedarwood light citrus or Promethazine in it. Essential oils kick it to the next level. There was a pretty good thread last week about this subject.

Whenever I want to smell something lovely before bed I spritz a small amount of vintage Poison EDT or some Nº5 Parfum on my left wrist.

Whatever I have on in the latter part of the day soothes me through the night.

While Endymion is my preferred No.1 bedtime scent, I could sleep like a baby and never had to count sheep even under trying circumstances. Perhaps the years spent in the military taught me to switch quickly between ‘vigilant’ and ‘sleep’ modes whenever situation permits. I do hope all insomniacs out there find solutions as sleeplessness can wreak havoc on one’s health.

A dab of lavender (Lavandes Trianon), rose (Fleur de Thé Rose Bulgare), or musk (Perfect Veil). A little Shalimar or L’Heure Bleue is nice sometimes, too.

I like a sweet and heavy scent on my hands at bedtime, using one scent for months, then finding something else to move on to. I'm thinking Margiela Across Sands will be the next phase.

I listen to an earbud connected to a bedside tablet all night long. I switch the earbud from one ear to the other when I turn over by habit. Directing my attention to Hulu or a radio broadcast helps keep my brain from engaging reality, so I can drift and re-drift off, relying most greatly on multiple sci-fi radio drama stations.

I'm not an insomniac, but I usually don't fall asleep until others are about to get up. Specifically for sleep I have a mixture of two fragrances, DSH perfumes Sweet Dreams and A Lab on Fire Sweet Dreams 2003. The names are entirely coincidental; I discovered 2003 before sweet dreams. It turns out they go very well together as the DSH is spicy and 2003 is not.

Other than that, anything I have on during the day that is still there I will go to sleep in. Particularly long-lasting is Guerlain Encens Mythique d'Orient whose basenote and skin scent are both comforting and sensuous.

I found L'Air du Désert Marocain to be very relaxing.

Nothing special. I wear whatever was the day’s scent. Sometimes, I like to use a few drops of essential lavender oil or some Aveda men’s scalp and hair oil (the latter to my hair and back-of-neck area).

L'Heure Bleue had been my go-to. I still reach for LHB, but also at times for Eris Night Flower, which owes its bones to Shalimar.

I find Flashback by Olfactive studio very soothing and extremely tolerable. I have on several occasions sprayed it on curtains right next to where I sleep before going to bed

Dans Tes Bras might be another one but not quite as tolerable, it can start some mild itch in my nose if not careful.

The drydown of Music for a while by Frederic Malle, if stuck on fabric, is also really nice and just makes for a great experience when smelled. I have enjoyed that on my pillow and so on.
