Thumbs up Cannabis Accord formula / recipe help / critique

    Hi all
Here up in Canada cannabis has been legalized for recreational use as of last year. You can buy it from the government online shop. Granted the government weed isn't very fragrant yet, but still.
I have made a cannabis accord a few years ago and would like to share for any interested perfumer or cannabis enthusiast, and also some critique or help developing the scent.. its a bit pointless now that perfumers apprentice has it covered, but the fun, I am thinking of the fun. In case any cannabis person would like to use the blend for commercial use, just credit my business page (in my profile) or share with me / show me your product! This accord was made before I discovered Cape May essential oil, which is 50% myrcene (imagine my pure joy) and it was also before I got interested in perfumery, so there are no aroma chemicals but I am keen to play with and enhance this accord with the many green notes available to us. Without any further introduction, my cannabis accord:

    Cannaccord by nicotiro

    5 Lime (pressed)
    3 Orange
    3 Petitgrain
    1 Basil
2 Sage (Spanish at the time but Ive used dalmatian)
    3 Rosemary
    3 Carrot Seed
    2 Spruce
    4 Cypress
    1 Black Pepper
    3 Copaiba Balsam

or with Lemongrass 1, no balsam, and everything else 1 (personally i don't like lemongrass essential oil but it was ok for me in this blend)

Look up the GC of cannabis
Apparently it shares terpenes with frankincense

    Thus...
I think your choice of materials are the right direction to go :-)

I used to smoke a lot, when I was a kid... but no longer.
From what I remember, lime+ orange isn`t too much there?
But there`s so many strains now a days, some that even smell like pineapple!

3 Petitgrain *this is fairly strong, I would do with just 1
    1 Basil
2 Sage (Spanish at the time but Ive used dalmatian)
    3 Rosemary
3 Carrot Seed *very strong, you may want to dilute it down to 1% (at 1% try 3 parts)
    2 Spruce
    4 Cypress
    1 Black Pepper
3 Copaiba Balsam - I like it, but weed does`t really have a cinnamon aspect to it, right?

Weed has resinous + smoky elements too...
how about labdanum, vetiver, and 1 drop of birch tar @ 1%?

    Have you smelled T`ere DeHermes?
It has a nice accord: grapefruit + vetiver... could get some ideas there.
Just head down to any hermes shop and smell it.

I`ve made an interesting accord with lavender absolute + birch tar @ 1%
You can look up "burnt lavender," accord in this forum... the formulas up there, and to me it did smell a little like weed.

    Your weed accord should have
    - pine elements: i.e. pine oil
    - spicy elements: cardamom might be nice
    - earthy citrus elements: i.e. frankincense, or lemongrass might be ok too
    - (perhaps fruity elements) i.e. patchouli (some patchoulis can be pretty fruity)
    - resinous elements: i.e. labdanum or patchouli
    - smokey elements: i.e. birch tar @ 1%
    - earthy elements: i.e. vetiver

you got to try it as written, though i will try your suggestions at a lower carrot seed, also im almost out. removing the citrus notes i guess makes it an indica, this is more of a sativa grapefruit, fruit loops, lemon g, lemon skunk, tangie/ california orange/ golden goat type strain with the citrus elements. but maybe replacing the citruses with the frankincense will add the resinous note you are suggesting.
i think the blend is strong and funky the petitgrain is high i know, but it has its own way in the blend and adds a certain bite to the funk. will try it at a lower percent, but i made this blend incrementally.
you know how some cannabis enthusiasts describe certain strains as having sandalwood and a lavender note, i may try that, just got ebanol and sandalore, and lavender fleur, have real sandalwood (the cheapest variety) and its almost finished so ill go for the aroma chems. its also why i love the OCS terpene descriptors but i havent looked at the BC or quebec site much.

and yeah i should go smell that, ive read it on this board that it has a cannabis note.

pears recommends adding guaiacwood or its derivative for an indica effect and smokiness in another thread as well, but I didnt want to add the scent of smoke.

actually looking up the gc is exactly what i did? i called it an accord because you cannot discern the orange nor the lime nor the high petitgrain. i havent stopped smoking for my ptsd so i know a thing or two about how cannabis smells...but ok matt. i guess if you think pine oil has any business in a cannabis accord, that says it all. have you smelled pine oil. on that note i really appreciate how you bolded the accord with your "suggestions" without even trying it, just to posit yourself an expert but ive seen your only posted original blend. my gad. time to smoke some erb. anyway in case you wanted to trade some original blends or individual oils or chems im down with that, but that domestic shipping though.

Vetikol acetate and patchouli make a cannabis-like note. Also, I asked susan at CP and she directed me to this site:

    https://www.terpenemart.com/

I am interested to try these to see if it could improve a cannabis accord.

you may want to try some Methyl Pamplemousse as well, which I find has a weedy aspect by itself

Aside from those already mentioned, try adding some oregano oil (high carvacrol).
