    Hello HoP

Just looked at Parfumo. Is Scentfan a member here? It’s interesting you see somebody’s writings and photos and think WOW. She knows her perfumes.

At first it was a bit confusing as I don’t like this points and ticks thing. It’s too competitive and being a tennis nut, where the the forums are based on people getting points for just post counts or voting in a poll I just find ridiculous. Tell me why you like perfume xyz or player xyz just don’t tell me a thousand times......waste your own life don’t waste mine.

    Hope all is well HoP

    Nice ones.

I like Fragrantica as well as BN’s, bit will have to scope out a few of these.

Not sure...some seem to post from time to time here, but I think they are more active on Fragrantica than here.

When new here I didn’t know you had to submit reviews. As I loved Mandarine Mandarin by Serge Lutens, as it took me back to Chengdu when I was 17 I just wrote a post about it stating something like the perfume had been captured beautifully the essence of what you smell in eastern China with cooked mandarin peelings and incense. Someone came along and basically said it was a crap perfume so after that I never bothered.
    Hi Sea Roses !
Because you are a 'basenotes plus' member I think you can write reviews directly without having to wait for them to be vetted and to appear later, (on fragrantica any member can write a review and it appears immediately at the top the review list). I think this is why fragrantica has a huge amount of reviews. I personally like the balloon system there ; the most accurate reviews get a lot of balloons next to them which means that most readers agree with those particular reviews.

It's a real shame that you were put off doing further reviews after that negative comment regarding Mandarin Mandarin, but I understand where you're coming from.
...I'm sure though that a lot of people agreed with your review of Mandarin Mandarin, (and it's now aroused my curiosity to try it)...I love mandarine, so thanks for the tip !

So....not an encouraging start with Parfumo.net. Thought I'd try it out just to see what it had to offer. Set up a new account, and it will not let me login. It rejects the password that I had just set up. I emailed them on the Contact page, and it's been 3 days now with no response.

I started my journey in fragrance with Fragrantica so it does hold a special place in my heart. However since the redesign I have been less active on their forums. I think that both BN and Fragrantica complement each other nicely. Fragrantica has new articles everyday and is definitely superior when it comes to research. What I like about BN is that there are many communities in the forums dedicated to very specific things (which Fragrantica has as well but not to the same extent), also the marketplace here on BN is a lot more active than on Fragrantica (which is good for me as I don't have Facebook).

Always Basenotes, Fragrantica only when I cannot find information here, and I don't like Parfumo's website.
