Default Testing new fragrances after a hiatus

I've been away from the forum and not been collecting frags for several months. It was my 1 year anniversary of joining Basenotes last week and I'm back. Tomorrow I have the day off work and I'm planning on testing the following at Selfridges at the Trafford Centre, Manchester:

    Creed Millesime Imperial
    Creed Royal Mayfair
    Creed Bois du Portugual
    Amouage Memoir Man
    Amouage Epic Man
    Amouage Interlude Man
    Amouage Jubilation XXV
    Chanel Sycamore
    Chanel Bois de Iles
    Chanel Coromadel
    Chanel Cuir de Russie
    Dior Eau Noire
    Dior Vetiver
    Dior Oud Ispahan
    Dior Leather Oud
    Armani Bois d'Encens
    Armani Oud Royal
    Armani Myrrhe Imperiale

I think that Dior Eau Noire has been discontinued? Any others?

    Many thanks!

Welcome back! You have a nice list to re-acquaint yourself with the hobby!

Nice to see you again hednic. Of course I remember you. Will report back my findings tomorrow.

No idea about the discontinuation of Eau Noire, all that can personally say after saying this list is, one hand, kudos to the impressive selection already, to which it would be difficult to make this better, because it already includes so many perfect scents and, on the other hand, especially after longer fragrance hiatus, the sensation of rediscovering especially these will be even stronger and more rewarding

If they have Dior's Vetiver in Manchester, let me know! It used to be available for sale on Dior's UK website and I was told it was only available in store in London, but don't know the situation now. But, I have a feeling you'll have to go to Paris for it and Eau Noire.

Your nose will explode! But these are all great perfumes. Make sure you bring a pencil with which to write the name on the paperstrip.

As Bangkok Hound was saying, Dior Eau Noire and vetiver are now pretty much discontinued (unless they have old bottles).

Yeah I figured Dior Eau Noire and Vetiver have been discontinued.
I also want to to try:

    Parfums de Marly Nisean
    Parfums de Marly Layton
    Parfums de Marly Herod
    Parfums de Marly Carlisle

My New Year's frag resolution: No more blind buying cheap frags.
I bought so many based on YouTube reviews and I disliked the majority of them. I'm focusing on niche fragrances. But there were a couple of designers that I didn't get to test like Guerlain Heritage and Terre D' Hermes By Hermes.

Both John Lewis and Selfridges have these listed as women's fragrances on their websites.

These can be worn by either sex. Try them and you can decide for yourself. The MFK website also has them listed as fragrances for men.

Have a plan if you don’t already have one. Here’s some useful tips:
    a) Pace yourself.
    b) Bring along a pen together with some of those little ziplock bags for test strips.
    c) Consider leaving the credit card at home to avoid impulse purchases.
    d) Bring along a wingman to run interference and keep pesky SAs off your back while you do your thang.

They didn't have Creed Bois du Portugual or Amouage Memoir or any of the Armani's or Parfums de Marly's. Overall I was disappointed with the Amouage as I expected more since I love and own Reflection Man. I was also actually disappointed with the Chanel Exclusifs as I expected to like Sycamore alot more. The sales assistant on the Dior counter was actually very helpful and told me the history of the range and that Eau Noire and Vetiver have been discontinued. She also showed me that they had candles in each fragrance.

I actually overally really like Maison Francis Kurkdjian and I've never heard of this house before. Many thanks Sheik Yerbouti.

I'm considering purchasing the ones I rated 8.5 and 8.

One other thing. When I was sat in Starbucks there were two business people sat next to me on a big table having a meeting. After 20 minutes I overheard the guy say, "it's going to be a busy year with the two Sauvage releases". I looked up from my laptop and saw the documents all had Dior on them.

As I said I've been away. Have two Sauvage flankers been announced for this year?

That's what my boyfriend is for. He's 6ft 5inches of Texas drawl and southern charm. Keeps the SA's busy for an hour.

You’re welcome Distorted Vision. Maison Francis Kurkdjian has a good lineup. When you’re next testing might be worth trying a few more of theirs.

Sorry to hear of your disappointment over Chanel Sycamore. IMO the EDP gained too much warmth in the base and lost the delicate balance that made the EDT special.

The smoke was too strong for me. I'm going to try it again but on my skin next time.

I finally bit the bullet and ordered my first full bottle of Creed: Aventus and Millesime Imperial from Nose.fr. I only have Creed decants.
I also ordered lots of free samples of Maison Francis Kurkdjian with my order.

I've also discovered a new niche house, Jovoy thanks to Sebastian from the Smelling Great Fragrance Reviews YouTube channel. Just ordered a load of samples.
