Default Looking for something warm and dark to wear daily that performs well.

    Hello BaseNotes,

I know this is the best place for fragrance recommendations, (IMO) so hopefully you can work with my specific desire.

Iím searching for a fragrance for myself (male) that is warm and ícuddlyí, but a little dark and sophisticated, for daily use.

I have tried fragrances like this before but I typically have an issue with longevity and projection, so I prefer fragrances with very good performance.

Fragrances Iíve tried but have had issues with include:
Burberry London for Men - Bad longevity, mediocre projection
Givenchy Pi - Possibly lacking the Ďdark and sophisticatedí/too sweet?
Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille - Although Iíve used it conservatively, I havenít received very good reactions. But Iím still considering it
D&G The One for Men - Bad projection
Potion Royal Black - I actually havenít tried it but Iíve heard itís discontinued? I would prefer to find a fragrance to stick with for a while

I promise Iím not pessimistic, I just really canít seem to find a fragrance that fits the bill. All recommendations will be greatly appreciated,

    Thank you.

A few relatively inexpensive options, off the top of my head:

-Eau des Baux by L'Occitane (this is reasonably priced at retail, and can sometimes be found at discounters, or purchased from L'Occitane during one of their sales, they usually have a 20% off sale at least a few times a year)

-Oud Black Vanilla Absolute by Perry Ellis (this can be found for a very reasonable price at various discounters such as fragrance net)

Welcome to you Glrusy! Enjoy you time here at Basenotes! I think the suggestion made above of Eau Des Baux by L'Occitane is a good one.

    Welcome!

Also considering as possible recommendations that still remain quite appropriate for everyday wear, even if being on the darker and/or warmer side, Encre Noire plus its various flankers by Lalique, the Farenheit flankers Absolute, Parfum by Dior, Ungaro III and Ungaro III Parfum Aromatique by Ungaro, most or all of these reaching sufficient performance over the day

+ 2 it sounds like just what the OP is asking for as it ticks all of his boxes.

Spicebomb used to be good as well but I'm unsure how its fared in the reformulation stakes as I haven't inhaled it in ages. L'instant de Guerlain Extreme or whatever they call it these days may also fit the bill and to round it out I'd say sniff Dior Homme Parfum as well.

CDG's Black is probably a little "darker" than you're looking for, but it's pretty warm and gorgeous, nonetheless

+1 to Noir Extreme by Tom Ford
    +1 Original A*Men
+1 Dior Homme Parfum by Christian Dior
    Also suggesting the following:
Black by Bvlgari...not a strong projector, but a strong projector would not be "cuddly"
Dior Homme Intense by Christian Dior
    Pure Malt by Thierry Mugler
Midnight in Paris by Van Cleef & Arpels
    Play Intense by Givenchy
    Uomo by Valentino

Replica Soul of the Forest might be of interest. It is a little bit dark and resinous. Quite a mysterious scent. Cuddly? Perhaps.

I'll second Eau des Baux. Great, warm, cigar box-y scent.

I'd also recommend Robert Graham Fortitude. It's a honeyed tobacco fragrance, but the patchouli brings out woody notes that balance out the sweetness, so it doesn't get as sugary as Tobacco Vanille. I think "cuddly" would be a good descriptor if applied in small amounts (a little goes a long way), but it has an aggressive opening that won't be to everyone's taste. Still, really nice, underrated fragrance.

One more recommendation, which can be had *really* cheaply and thus makes it a low-risk blind buy: Hanae Mori Him EDP, which is kinda like a more winter-friendly, spicier, smokier Gucci Pour Homme II. A very good winter night fragrance, but it's also versatile enough for daily wear. It was something I started wearing early on as I got into fragrances, and I've received more compliments regarding that fragrance than I have from anything else I've ever worn.

My vote for Chanel Egoiste. Very warm, sandalwoody. So still a wood, ie with some darkness, but cozy.

I reach for this one a lot. It's my own dumb reach pick and it works successfully in most occasions.
