    Default Sweet with Patchouli Base

What's your favorite sweet and/or oriental fragrance that has a prominent patchouli base?

    Bonus points for office friendly.

Robert Graham Fortitude has been one of my go-to fragrances this winter.

Fortitude is a warm, honeyed tobacco fragrance, but the strong patchouli smokiness helps cut the sweetness a bit, so it never develops into something as super-sugary as, say, Tobacco Vanille (which is why I strongly prefer Fortitude to Tobacco Vanille). It's not the most delicately composed or complex fragrance on the market--the advertised notes are just tobacco, patchouli, and tonka, though the experience of the fragrance is a bit more dynamic than you'd expect just from reading that--but it's exceptionally well-balanced, and the projection and sillage is honestly remarkable.

Is it office-friendly? I dunno. Nothing with detectable patchouli quite fits my idea of "office friendly." But as long as you didn't over-apply it, I think you'd do okay.

LIDGE. The EdT if you want more office friendly.

The chocoloate/cocoa gourmand with a patchouli base seems pretty common. I blame A Men
    1. No, never blind buy (I do, but do as I say, not as I do. I'm taking no responsibility for your fragrance gambling).
    2. Get them both. You're a Basenoter and you know you're going to end up purchasing them both eventually.
    3. Yes, it has been reformulated.
    4. Looking for a signature scent? You've come to the wrong place.

Really don't like overly sweet fragrances at all but Patchouli Boheme by LM Parfums is really nice. Ostensibly a patchouli fragrance, there is a lot of leather and tobacco in it, as well as tonka and balsams to give a bit of a sweet edge.
    Most worn:

Black Comme des Garçons, Borneo 1834 Serge Lutens, Patchouli Santa Maria Novella

Not the most office friendly (although probably still fine with minimal sprays) Lapidus pour Homme does indeed combine balanced, tasteful sweetness with a patchouli base

Nice suggestions! I own and love both, and and also LIDG, which I'm wearing to work tomorrow.

I love this stuff. It isn't that well received here. Maybe due to the die hard M7 fans. I've actually received some really good compliments when wearing it.

    +1 Borneo 1834
+1 Coromandel (haven't smelled the recent EdP though)

    Adding to that:

    - Hugo Boss Collection Cashmere Patchouli. I get a slightly herbal cocoa vibe from this. Incredibly potent.
    - Mugler Angel Taste of Fragrance. Very much a patchouli scent with some added sweetness. Sadly discontinued and may be hard to find.

I don’t know if this one is still made, but Cannabis Santal by Fresh is another niche take on the Angel / A*Men idea. It’s like Angel Unisex. But last time I tried it I thought it was too close to a lot of the A*Men Pure **** flankers, and I have a LOT of them already. Pure Havane with the tobacco taken out and plum added.

I’d also put a vote in for Coromandel.

Pure tonka is pretty good and ultrazest/kryptomint if you want the amen DNA but a little better in warm weather.

Borneo 1834 is also nice if you can get it.

I agree with Coromandel. I've also found that B Men, Armani Prive Iris Celadon & Zino by Davidoff have what you seek.
My current top 10 (subject to change) in no particular order:

Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Essenza de Zegna, Zegna Essenze Amber Gold, Armani Privé Sable Or, Armani Privé Vétiver Babylone, Mancera Cedrat Bois, Acqua di Giò Profumo, Amouage Dia Man, L'Artisan Explosions d’Emotions: Amour Nocturne, Zegna Essenze Italian Bergamot/Acqua di Bergamotto

YSL Tuxedo - From their Exclusive line. Advertised as Spices and Patchouli. Smells like a more potent Gucci PH2 with a beautiful patchouli drydown. Sweet but not cloying like those run of the mill tonka bombs.

Might be too 'sexy' for the office...

    Must have (sample of course)

To flip your requirements to a patchouli top and a (fairly) sweet bottom, how about Montale's Patchouli Leaves?

The major patchouli hit is in the top notes, while the base is amber and vanilla.

I love it, and in fact I'm wearing it now in the office (easy on the sprays).

I was just thinking about Patchouli Leaves today. I might have to sneak it into the office with a couple dabs. You're right on the money..
