Thumbs up Re: SOTD: Thursday, 21st February, 2019

Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

Hello and best to everyone. My mother wore perfume regularly almost to the end. I cleared out her things the other day per my father’s request. I came across a small perfume stash - Wind Song, L’Air du Temps (both empty). She also had Cashmere Mist, Norell, and Bijan, all of which I was gratified to see were well-used.

I’m wearing Bijan today. It’s a great powdery floral oriental, similar in style to Bal a Versailles minus the skank. I remember my mother wearing it in the early 1990s when my daughter was small. Sometimes I’d catch a soft trace of it on my daughter’s clothing after a visit with my parents. Hug transference.

Wish you all a good day.

Eau d'Ikar by Sisley for me today. Only an hour into it, it's already boring me and will probably get replaced. Smells like it belongs on a mannequin at JC Penney.

Tdem, what a nice fragrant tribute to your mother!

I'm in Richard James today. This one just makes me happy - and reminds me of a lovely day in London with a certain tall parfumisto with fantastic taste and a solid enabling skill.

Richard James fragrance notes: Bergamot, Mandarin, Ginger, Green tea leaves, Petitgrain, Rosemary, Basil, Cardamom, Coriander, Tuberose, Lily of the valley, Rose, Lavender, Suede, Patchouli, Sandalwood, Tobacco, Amber, Vetiver, Musk, Oak moss.
It’s thought that people who hope too much will just waste their life away and never get down to doing any real work. They’re confusing Hope with Wish, its lazy cousin... When Wish whispers, “Something is just around the corner,” what comes or not is never what was wished for. When Hope whispers “Something is just around the corner,” something always is. -- Charlie Elberson

Smell Bent Prairie Nymph, one spray distributed between two wrists and one to the decolletage, and even two like that is pushing it. Smells good though!

I forgot to add my good wishes for del yesterday! A new job is very exciting news; best of luck to you!

Another fan of "hug transference"! I'll definitely be repeating that. Beautiful post today, Terry; I loved reading about your mom's perfumes. I either don't know or don't remember Bijan but sounds like I need to pick some up!

My SotD is a prime candidate for hug transference; Ungaro's Diva today. Honeyed, rosy and fabulous. Have a great day all!

(((Hugs transference of sweet thoughts for our whole BN family)))

Rub it in, why dontcha, ComDiva? You got to meet JR. Based on the six degrees of separation/hug transference principle, I'm clinging to the belief that if I hug you in Chicago, I get second-generation contact with that fella.

Second sampling of Carthusia Terra Mia (not in BN directory). It's okay. Carthusia generally does solid stuff, but the multi-directionality of notes doesn't take me anywhere in particular -- mostly foodie, somewhat floral, somewhat woody.

Bergamot, neroli, pink pepper, rose, jasmine, coffee, hazelnut, orange blossom, vanilla, amber woods
    I don't want to. I don't have to. You can't make me. I'M RETIRED.

Oh Terry, how very, very sweet! Hugs are the best.

SOTD is from a sample: Sylvaine Delacourte La Collection Musc Florentina. I'm having a very strange experience with this collection. Heretofore, I thought myself anomic to musc. However, I can smell it in this collection. Perhaps it's the overload of the note; I have no idea but I am certainly enjoying the experience. Despite the lack of love for this scent, it is magic on my skin.
It's that time of year again where my daughter asks; "Mom, why does the cat smell like Chamade?"

    ((Tdem))...I loved your story.

The sun has come out and the snow is busy melting away...I was able to get quite a few errands done and get to the gym.

SotD is off rotation because my scentbird decant arrived. Amouage Honour Woman...it's really very pretty. It's supposed to get more interesting in the drydown, but right now it's just a lovely white floral.
