    Thumbs up Non perfumista's views

Find first impressions from those withOUT an interest in fragrance interesting and useful.
But a few: "smells like the neighbors house" which we bought discovering it had been stuck in a different era / Aramis 900. "It's like 'jop'" he meant Hoop! /Homage a l'homme.

Speaking for myself, I can surely see how what others think without an interest in fragrance would be interesting to me. However, I personally can't see how that would be useful to me.

Although most likely shared on BN before, have to remind about a commend defining Antaeus smelling "like grandmother" (and the 4711 style EDC she was wearing) or that Denim Original "should be given to grandpa"

I’ve had a few people tell me Aventus smells like smoke/cigarettes( which was always followed with “but in a good way”).

The funniest one I have shared before was "Sifu you really need to get farther away from me because you smell like a REALLY hot guy and I don't want to forget that I'm straight" I had on Dirty English mixed with a bit of patchouli oil - I have also been told I smell like pancakes (Michael Jordan Legend)

Anything older automatically "smells like aftershave" to my roommates, this includes everything from Van Cleef & Arpels Pour Homme to Jicky and Chanel Pour Monsieur. On the other hand, once you tip over the 1990 mark, everything smells "clean" to them, and if I tell them it's expensive (i.e. Aventus or Jubilation XXV), they suddenly love and want to wear it.

    Stereotypes work apparently.

Ha giggles. Just considering how things change, nature / nurture sorta.
My niece's were a good barometer as such, a 'mmmmh' or grimace says enough. Now they're getting older and exposed to 'culture', trends and fashion, it's all about fruity florals supported by a 'celebrity' name.

A co-worker once walked into my office and asked "What smells like Play-Doh?"

Another co-worker asked if I was wearing Curve or something of the such.

    I was wearing Aventus. Doube-Ouch.

Yeah, and pretty much anything remotely floral gets greeted with a description that includes a Grandma of some sort.

Cum in an ashtray - Aventus

Both were meant to be negative comments, in case somebody wonders.

Honestly, I would have asked how that person even knew what those things smelled like, especially the latter comment. Just sounds like that person was failing at trying to be witty.

What I would like to know is how did they know how cum smells in an ashtray. I guess smelling cab driver's ass crack is probably not that hard in this age of hookups.

Yeah, it's obviously just a way of saying it smells like ass but perhaps also a somewhat accurate description considering that mini cabs can feature car fresheners and drivers who might wear a cheap oud.

Got friends over the years to try stuff out on tester strips and here’s what some said -

Green Irish Tweed - freshly mown grass
Kouros - soap and cheesy feet
    Kiehls Musk - baby shampoo
Safari For Men - uncle’s aftershave
Acqua di Parma Colonia - church back home (Italy) on Sundays
