Thread: Creed Packaging

    Default Creed Packaging

I purchased a 100ml/3.3oz bottle of Creed Aventus that I know to be genuine for $270. It came with the two inserts depicted below. In your experience, do all Creeds come with these inside?

I ask because I also recently received a 120ml/4oz bottle of Creed MI for $160 that did not include any inserts at all. Is that price a little too cheap, or does it seem pretty average? I noticed a few other reputable sellers on eBay charging between $200 and 220 for a 100ml/3.3oz of Creed MI. I'm new to Creed so I'm looking for a little reassurance that the price and lack of inserts is normal.

    Thank you for any help.

$160 for a 4.0 oz bottle of Creed MI DOES sound too cheap, and if it didn't come with the inserts (which every Creed does), then that would not be a good sign that the bottle is genuine.

An quick and easy way to get a good ballpark figure on a fragrance is to check Fragrancenet.com, and see what they are selling it for after their usual discount.

In this case, their 4.0 oz bottle of MI is about $224.00, and a tester bottle of MI (which doesn't come with a box and may not come with a cap) sells for around $202.00.

So $160.00 without the inserts does sound too cheap....unless it was used.

Approximately when did Creed start to introduce these inserts into the their boxes? The 1980s/1990s?

Thanks for the detailed response, RedRaider. I just messaged the seller about the missing inserts. This seller is “Top-rated Plus” with over 1,000 basically perfect feedback. Age of account at 2006 was great as well. It appears they still have one left for anyone curious about the listing.

I have one that was missing one of the inserts (the card I believe.) I think it was one I bought at an official Creed counter, but I don't remember. It was probably left out at the factory or someone opened the box and it fell out. They don't come wrapped after all, or at least they used to didn't, and you can bet that at least some of these that find their way to the gray market are opened up and checked.

My Baie de Genievre is a glossy box version from the 80s I believe and it has the inserts. The card with the pics is glossy like the box.

The seller immediately offered to let me return the item, which I'll be doing. She claims to get these from FragranceX and sells them as a drop shipper. I did a blind smell test with myself and two others. All three of us were able to pick the genuine MI out rather quickly. Although the scent is very similar on top, this eBay bottle has noticeable sweet (bubblegum described by one) undertones that come through after a moment that overtake it.

Just looked at what you bought and it does appear that the seller should be fine. I see no significant red flags, either. That's definitely a good price, so the only thing that's odd is that there were no inserts.

Someone obviously removed them at some point, and if they did that, I would think chances are good that the bottle was also sprayed. When was the bottle produced?

The scent and the bottle should dictate if it's genuine, not the inserts, you might have let go a good deal.

I bought a 4 oz bottle of MIllesime Imperial from Fragrancenet that didn't come with the inserts. To me it would be pretty ridiculous to obtain a genuine Creed bottle and fill it with a similar scent. Time consuming and cost-ineffective. Your bottle was likely real.

Yes. I always take the inserts and throw them in a shoebox where I keep samples, so I just took a look at them and most of them are in four languages. One of them is English only, one German only, and one is French on one side and English on the other. I think this one might have been from the Baie de Genievre because the paper seemed thinner and older.

I believe the older ones were only in French. My Angelique Encens flacon had an insert as well. The insert description was entirely in French and it was dated prior to their 250th anniversary.

A3315X01 is coming back as 2015. Isn't that quite old for perfume? Could that be why it smelled so noticeably different?

The scent was definitely not the same unfortunately.

It's hard to say without knowing more about the bottle. It's unusual to get a 2015 bottle if it's purchased as "new," but that may or may not be problematic. Fragrances last for many years if properly stored (away from heat and light), and some would even be happy to get an older bottle because some Creeds do seems to age well, or blossom, in the bottle after they are sprayed. I'm sure you've heard that people pay big bucks to get one of the earliest versions of Aventus from 2011, or so.

Olivier Creed has said that the clock doesn't start ticking on a fragrance until it has been sprayed, and I tend to believe that's true. If an older fragrance has been stored properly, unsprayed, then chances are good the juice is just fine.

I have experienced the "blossoming" effect with some Creeds first hand. For instance, I was very disappointed when I received my brand new bottle of Green Irish Tweed years ago, because when I first sprayed it, it didn't really smell like anything. It was just a very weak odor that was neither good or bad. But after a few months, it became the great smelling fragrance GIT is known for. So for me, it really did age and blossom in the bottle with a little time.

That may or may not be what's going on with your bottle. On the other side of the coin, we know someone took the inserts out of the package you received, so did they also spritz a few sprays while they were at it? If they did, then the clock started ticking. And then you would have to know what kind of environment it has been stored in over the past 4 years. If it was a warm environment, then that certainly wouldn't be good.

I suspect your bottle is genuine, but whether the juice in it might have degraded over the years is hard to say.
