Question Guerlain Coriolan - Masterpiece or Odd Man Out ?

I personally find the opening amazing, but either ther are serious issues with longevity, (possibly the reason Guerlain discontinued this one?) or my nose becomes very quickly immune to the smell.
    Interested to hear your opinions.

A little of both, although oddly enough Avon made their own take on the idea later.
It's a fragrance that doesn't deserve the unicorn hype it gets, but is also better than a lot of things from the time.

Just a very nice solid fragrance

I’ve always been a fan of Coriolan. It’s still readily available at good prices online. A definite buy, IMO. Too good to pass up at current, affordable prices. Buy now, before remaining stock goes sky high.

It has always smelled mature to me from the getgo but I like it.

The opening was okay, but the longevity was just absent on my skin.

I swiftly moved my 30 ml bottle.

I complained about the longevity once and then had to eat my words upon subsequent wearings because all of a sudden I 'got it' and could easily smell it.

I have never owned a bottle, though. So what's up with that?

In my opinion it's neither a masterpiece OR an odd man out: It's just a really good, really unique scent.

It evokes a landscape and is unique. I never had problems with its strength. I don't think in terms of masterpieces, just fragrances I want to own a bottle of and fragrances that I don't think I'll ever wear. If you are an aficionado who wants to sample unique "masculines," then certainly try to obtain at least a ml or so. If you need others to tell you a fragrance is a must have, then I doubt you'll pursue this fragrance further.

This, most Guerlain fragrances, both in the regular product lines and their exclusive and/or discontinued ones, have the talent to gladly assume the odd man (or lady) out style and turn it into a masterpiece- brilliantly achieving the often so deceptive and elusive task, rarely mastered even by niche, to combine the groundbreaking qualities with the more mainstream ones and Coriolan is no exception to that

Does anyone else find a similarity to Zanzibar from Van Cleef ?
