Default Are there any fragrances you've come across that you think are completely hilarious? :D

Yeah, so, in all of your experiences with fragrances, what are ones you've come across that you just think are plain funny? Or, like, you have to try and not burst out laughing in the store when you smell them on the test strip?

The reason I ask is because I stopped by Sephora today, and decided to smell "By the Fireplace" from the Maison Margiela Replica perfume line. I sprayed a bit on one of the test strips, smelled it, and tried really hard to not laugh! Seriously, to me, it smells exactly like when someone cooks with a Traeger! XD
Either that, or like frying bacon! XD But a bit more like a Traeger, I think! XD
Seriously, I just find that one of the most hilarious scents to make for a man! XD

So, yeah..have you ever had any similar experiences..where you smelled some scent in a store for the first time, and you just thought it was really funny or weird?

Smelling Histoires de Parfums 1969 for the first time definitely made me laugh.

This reminds me of the perfume commercial sketch on Portlandia. "Fragrances often make people laugh..because of the name.."

Demeter’s Graham Cracker made me laugh, because it started out as a skin scent and had completely faded away within 10 minutes time—I kid you not. I would have had better luck smooshing a couple of Nabisco Grahams and walking around with the crumbs embedded in my hoodie.

Vaninger by Oliver & Co. made me laugh when I first tried it. All I could think of was me, munching away on candy cigarettes when I was a child, which is what this scent reminds of. I'd blow my dime allowance on the darn things every week.

I had the same experience with By the Fireplace! When I first started getting into fragrances, I was chatting with a SA at Sephora. As I was about to leave, she stopped me, sprayed a test strip, and asked if I could guess what it smelled like (with a huge grin on her face). I instantly was transported to campfires with my family. Great scent. It’s these experiences that make this hobby so fun!

I’ll also add two that for some reason hit some pleasure center in my brain related to candy from my childhood: YSL l’Homme Intense (gummy bears, anyone?), and Mont Blanc Legend Spirit (I’m not sure what kind of candy, but it definitely made me smile, that one).

I don’t think any of these are hilarious in a bad way, but Legend Spirit is the only one I would wear, as the candy vibe only lasts a few minutes.

Eau Sauvage. Just seemed funny as a chemically strong scent.

A fragrance called Oudy Woody. The smell was just as funny smelling as the name.

    Great topic.

Le male bottles still crack me up

The name of some scents crack me up because of how they sound when spoken
L instant de guerlain pour homme eau extreme. Imagine some casual asking you what scent youre wearing and you spit that out
Allure homme sport eau extreme - name equivalent of a run on sentence

The kilian bottle casket presentation is odd and hilarious especially with that dinky key it comes with

VCA midnight in paris in that bottle and that smell somehow being billed as a mans scent is hilarious. No wonder it failed

That oribe scent that smells like hairspray its just so awful

And Moschino..yeah..I almost feel like that goes without saying! XD And the other thread was technically "ugliest bottles" (that Moschino showed up in) which is not quite the same thing as what I'm asking! XD But as I said in that thread, "hilariously bad" is more how I'd describe them! XD

I hope I have a better experience with Demeter fragrances than the experience some of you guys had! I just ordered about a dozen perfume samples from them!
The cost of ordering samples from them can really add up, so I really hope that I don't just get ones that disappear when you spray them on!
I do fully agree that some of their scents are pretty hilarious though! XD I think the funniest thing is possibly that their most popular scent might be the one that smells like dirt! XD (Literally.) Or soil, or however it's supposed to smell. Like..you have literally hundreds of fantastic smelling things to pick from, and everyone was suddenly like "OMG DIRT! All my wishes have been granted!" XD

Kouros. A friend of mine a many years ago (before I knew any better) pranked me by spraying some vintage Kouros on me, telling me it's the latest French chic. After seeing my face scrunch up she told me "just kidding, it's my pee bottled!". I think I totally blew my lid off that day, but now I giggle every time I see it in a store.

Lipstick Rose, while maybe not necessarily hilarious, is to me a fragrance with a great sense of humour. (Oh, and yes, as someone mentioned, Kouros is wicked - but to me in the best possible way).

    +1 for Fat Electrician.

ELDO doesn't let men have all the fun...there's also Putain des Palaces for the ladies. My mother was a bit shocked when, having asked what I was wearing, she heard 'Hotel Slut' (or, more literally, 'Palace Whore'). I got a good laugh from that one. Personally, I love ELDO's cheek.
