Sampling Vintage Jicky EDT for the first time.

Hopefully everyone including Tdem and the Teardrops are on the mend to a full recovery.

Just made it across the 33K finish line.

Good morning all !. What a difference a day makes. Today's overcast and chilly conditions are a world apart from the heat of yesterday. Jenny and I set off early on one of our "drive and see where we end up" days which culminated in a new experience with a first time visit to the city of Winchester with it's fabulous cathedral (ceiling alert, Mrs Q ).

ExtremeK, I am so sorry to hear such sad news. My heartfelt condolences to you all.

    N.CAL, congrats on the 33K

Well done N.Cal on all those posts!

Lovely photos of Winchester, Jon. Didn't someone write
a song about that particuar Cathedral in the 70's?

I am wearing Ivoire on this sunny, bright morning. I am feeling a bit
tired after our marathon sing yesterday. We performed Elgar's The
Kingdom in Shrewsbury Abbey (twice including the rehearsal) and it's quite
a difficult piece to perform but thrilling nonetheless. The president of the Elgar
Society was in the audience so I hope we did him proud.

    Afternoon all!

N.CAL, congrats on your milestone, & thanks for the well wishes. Mr teardrop is still coughing a lot, & while l felt a bit better for spending some time outside yesterday, today l feel pretty rough again. Without wanting to gross anyone out, it's basically snot city here.

Jon, thanks for the fabulous photos! l spent many happy hours in that cathedral as a youngster. Our church choir, of which l was a member for many years, used to join all the other Hampshire choirs for an annual event there where we'd all sing together. lt was an amazing feeling to fill that place with our voices.

kewart, it was The New Vaudeville band who did that song.

We had an early brunch at home today, & after what's turning out to be a rather painful Old Firm game, we'll be popping out for a drink or three. Just got to get out of the house!

l'll be giving a second wearing to my sample of that lovely tropical floral leather, Adjatay Cuir Narcotique.

So it was, Teardrop! I never rated it very much musically!! Sorry you are both still in the land of nasal secretions. Now why does that
remind me of a certain perfume?? You no doubt know the one I mean - ha ha .

Hello my lovlies! My pea crop is in the ground. I have kept my temper through extreme duress! All those persons in my immediate family who made ten kinds of fun of me last year for cutting and stripping cane poles (bamboo) that I did not use? All quiet on the northern front. I chopped them up with a Gator chainsaw in ten minutes to make a dozen four sided teepees for a decorative pea vine support row in the kitchen garden. It went from eye rolling last year to "can you leave me just one blank for edible podded peas?" I searched deep in my soul for mercy and forgiveness--which was buried very, very deep after Tennessee's loss to Purdue and the accompanying stream of negativity--and left four for somebody's else's decorative peas.

For those interested, I only took Rosarium to Kentucky and I smelled peaceful and relaxed the entire time I was gritting my teeth and restraining the urge to yell "Shut UP!" It did help that I beat my brother at Scrabble, essentially a miracle, on the last two plays by getting "AWOKE" on triple word score and making his "GRAND" into "GRANDE". The icing is that "GRANDE" is not actually a word but he thought it would be and did not make me look it up. Bwah, ha, ha. Faked him out.

    AH, life is sweet!

Today I am wearing A Lilac a Day and considering how much of my own garden work there is to be done--shit tons. I'm off to church soon, but this afternoon I'll catch up on everything I missed-- ExtremeK--- I'm sorry for your family's loss. One is never ready.

NCal - congrat's on the post and hope that Jicky vintage EdT gave you an impression of what overall the Jicky Universe is like. The top notes are a bit bruised in that one...but the mid and base are good ol' Guerlain loveliness.

JonRodgers - amazing photos. They took my breath away. And to think that teardrop was there as a child - how cool!

Shycat - Thanks for the Garden Angst post. I giggled reading it through. Have *no idea* what it requires to grow peas but it sounds quite MacGyver. Props!

Yesterday I went to a 50th birthday party for a friend - someone I don't see nearly enough as I should. His father died just a couple weeks ago - right on his birthday weekend so he had to postpone the party to last night. His partner and he throw amazing parties - the catering was some of the most beautiful and delicious food I've encountered in a long time, the cake was beautiful, over the top and delicious. His group of friends are a lot of fun too. I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I wore L'Arbre by IUNX - one of my sheerest sandalwood scents (since I spent the whole day in iris/sandalwood). My friend, the birthday boy, has a small fragrance collection so each time we see each other that's one of our conversations. He was wearing something from Maison Francis Kurkdjian - he couldn't remember which one it was, he owns 3 of them.

After the party I continued on elsewhere and ended up getting home around 3 am. So I'm being gentle with myself today and I put this on to help me ease into midday:

    Lagerfeld Cologne by Lagerfeld

What a gem this is. My partner came up to give me a hug & instantly gave me a compliment on my scent. A little later I'll go to the pool and get some sun. Happy Sunday all!

Mike, so far favorable impressions of both Mitsouko and Jicky. I'm very pleased you enjoy Aubepine Acacia and it does have a Guerlain feel to the scent.

I’m wearing Lilac Love today. I like this just ok ... but not enough to spring for a full bottle. I think it is too heavy on the powder to wear in hot weather and I really prefer other types of scents for wearing in the cold. My decant should suffice, although I do reserve the right to change my mind at a later date.

Mike, I may have told you before, but Hubby used to wear Lagerfeld back in the day. I loved it on him!

N.Cal, thank you for the recommendation for the Rogue Perfumery scent. I will look into that!

    Jon, those photos! Wow.

Enjoy the last day of the weekend, everyone. hugs to all ...
    I've trademarked the color bleu
