YAY, Ebenas! Sending some good determination vibes your way Good luck!

Your crocus are lovely, PL! None of my perennials have bloomed yet, but I see some bright green tips! Spring is certainly trying to get here.

In other garden news, we definitely have a vole or two. They have TORN UP what remains of the grass in our front yard -- and unfortunately crossed the property line into our neighbor's yard, too. We have the exterminator coming soon. There don't seem to be any humane capture/release services for voles around here. I'm also tearing out the 4 Sem Sorbaria shrubs because I simply cannot keep up with the speed-of-light suckering (they've multiplied from 4 to 6 shrubs already!) They're being replaced with 4 more Tor spirea (which are SO beautiful, especially in the autumn) and an Oakleaf Hydrangea. I'm so excited!

I'm celebrating the emergence of ever more green things by wearing Infusion de Vetiver. Lovely spring-y fragrance.

A new Montreal Guerlain counter (hope we get a report!), freewheeling's books, easyfish's perfume collection, spireas and oakleaf hydrangeas- so many beautiful things in this thread today!

Thank you, Cook.bot, N.Cal, Jon & ExtremeK! Crocus certainly aren't showy "curb appeal" type flowers but I'm partial to their dainty charms. Nothing fits the phrase "sight for sore eyes" more than these little cuties after a long winter. JR, these have bloomed earlier some years, sometimes even through snow. Bloom time varies but they're always first!

Sampling the first new Chanel of 2019, Chance Eau Tendre EdP. Don't need this but I do like it quite a bit better than the original EdT. This new one is less shampoo-y, with more floral oomph. Definitely not exciting, though.

I’m happy to be testing Soivohle Lilacs & Heliotrope today. I really like it! The heliotrope seems to be more dominant, but that spicy lilac note peeks through now and then. I just ordered a spray sample, but it was wrapped in beautiful paper with two more samples plus a hand-written thank you included. Nice!

I took the boy to he groomers for the first time and he got a good report! He doesn’t really like when I give him baths, so I was nervous how he would do. He came home and crashed ... I guess beauty is exhausting.

    hugs to all ...
    I've trademarked the color bleu

Thank you, and thanks for sharing the photo of flowers, I loved it. Have you tried Gabrielle (the new Chanel from 2019)? I thought it to be very underwhelming.

Thank you. Many of my books are still in Cleveland, and all my Bengali books are in Calcutta. I read Women by Bukowski last year, enjoyed it but it isn't one of my favourites. I've never read his poetry, shall give it a try sometime.

As for Montreal, I'm going there in April (16-23) and May (8-17). If anyone is particularly interested in feedback on any scent, I can try it and type up some notes (the same applies to Toronto). In fact the Guerlain boutique is a 15 min walk from my place.

Grape hyacinths are the first spring flowers in my yard. I didn't plant them, they came with the house, but I so like seeing them pop up. I'm wearing Stash with Mohur extrait on top, the combination appealed to me this morning. I'm not a good perfume layerer, but this came out okay.

I like Cuir Ylang. The scent opens with aldehyde, leather and ylang. The aldehyde is a bit too much for my taste but luckily it does not last long (less than an hour or so). The opening is not smooth but feels dusty/ rugged. The leather and ylang last for a couple (few) hours then smooth incense emerges together with some other floral (not sure what kind but not ylang). At this stage, it’s smooth, almost buttery with a touch of sweetness. That’s all I can pick up - leather, ylang, and incense.

How did you like Neroli and Vetiver?

My SOTDs for the past few have been samples. I have to wonder sometimes if I'm getting a good sample when I get some weak sauce especially if it's a fairly new scent.

An example is today's Cartier Carat. Way too subtle for my taste. The opening reminded me of cantaloupe.

On the other hand VC&A's California Reverie wasn't subtle in the opening at all. I've always preferred sambac to officinale and the neroli in it is nice but I couldn't detect the frangipani note. I guess this scent is infamous for its lack of longevity, which I experienced, but even at half price I didn't find it worth a fb. Too bad. I liked it but just couldn't go for it.

I felt more comfortable with Penhaligon's Castile and got a decant of that. The drydown is very soapy but that is not a negative for me. It was very long lasting.

NR For Her L'Absolu was a no-brainer. I love almost anything musk-based and the whole Narciso Rodriguez line is like that.

Unfortunately since I live in New York State I can't buy Chanel or Guerlain samples from decanters so I am going to blind buy some Guerlain fbs.
How do you know what a French whorehouse smells like?
