Default Is Cedrat Boise a safe blind buy?

I love Aventus, but don't love Aventus clones. I have only read good things about this frag, is it different enough from Aventus to buy?

    Thank you

On a stand alone basis it may be a good buy but nowhere near the original. This is black currant centric as compared to pineapple in Aventus.

I heard of longevity issues too in the newer batches and for this reason sold off mine.

You may consider it given the fractional cost as compared to the "King".

Imo yes (I bought it blind) It is pretty different compared to Aventus. Only in the opening they have some similarities and going to the drydown CB is not smokey but is woodier and has a nice leather note in the base.

I do not think Cedrat Boise is a safe blind buy. I do not comprehend the comparisons to Aventus or Aventus clones. Aventus and its clones are fruity woody musky, or loaded with birch, smokey. Cedrat Boise smells like the milk left over from a bowl of Fruity Pebbles. And the base is very sugary sweet with a good amount of leather. The performance is nuclear, and it is so sweet it can become cloying if sprayed to much or to close to the nose. I just dont see the comparisons to Aventus.
Dont take that the wrong way though. Cedrat Boise is a very high quality scent, very unisex in my opinion (unlike Aventus), and is worth a decant to try it out. Just dont think it's an Aventus clone, because I don't think it is even close.

Any blind buy is a gamble. And just like at the casino, never wager more than your willing to lose. CB is a great scent. Buying blind will depend on what price you’re willing to accept potentially not liking it...

First, I don’t get any Aventus comparison at all. And second, I think a safe blind buy completely depends on your idea of money, and how much you have to splurge. For me, safe blind buy gambles are fragrances that are about $40 or under.

    Don't get Aventus with CB.
It's my most complimented fragrance but that's probably because I wear it so often.

I sampled it and didn't care for it, so I certainly wouldn't blind buy it....(or anything else that is of any significant cost).

So I blind bought it because of hype and there was a 15% discount at Notino, so I though it was a good deal.
I am not impressed at all. It's just OK fragrance. Doesn't live up to it's hype.
Opening is quite harsh with unpleasant chemicals. I didn't smell much for the first minute. Then it starts to project. It's fruity and quite linear to my nose.
Very long lasting! In the evening I put a spray on my wrist just to test it, an hour later I took a shower. In the shower it exposed it's chemical musky base, but after shower it returned to it's fruitiness and I still could smell it. 8-9 hours later when I woke up I still could smell it!
I don't understand where people find similarities between this and Aventus. There were like 5 seconds in the opening when Cedrat Boise distantly reminded me some notes from Aventus. But I found it's dry down to be a lot more closer to my Dior Sauvage deo stick that I put on in the morning. Must be Cedrat Boise is also heavily loaded with ambroxan.
Overall I'd say it's not a safe blind buy. I hope this was my last blind buy
P.S. IMHO, it's price should be around 60 EUR, it's nothing special and so far I can name a few mainstream designers that are a lot better and I am usually very skeptical on designers

Agreed, generally-speaking it is a pretty safe blind-buy, but it can be overwhelming in terms of performance or underwhelming in terms of notes depending on what you're used to. It's quite different to Aventus to me, so I personally treat them as separate entities.

I don't like the fake smelling cedar chemical note that they use in this. My guess is it is Norlimbanol. It's not as bad as some others I have smelled, but it's enough to deter me from buying this. Had the wood note been a little more authentic smelling, this would be a sure buy for me. A suitable replacement for Aventus that is pretty good quality, and has great performance.

I don't recommend blind-buying anything. I'm sure you can find a decant of this, and then make a larger purchase decision from there.

I don't have a comparision to Aventus, since I haven't smelled it. With that said, I blind bought Cedrat Boise, and I really dislike it. It's too sweet for me.

Do yourself a favor and get a sample first.

I think it is for sure. I mean, even if you hate it, LOTS of people love it, so I doubt you'd have any problems re selling it.

I don't get the comparisons to Aventus either, but I think this is a beautiful fragrance in its own right. I blind bought it and love it. Mine did not perform that well right out of the gate but all of a sudden, like a month or two after I bought it, it started performing excellently. I'm told that is common with Mancera

    +100

For the record, it smells nothing like Aventus... What I can say is that is has a similar playful yet versatile vibe. Personally, I think Aventus is a better scent from top to bottom.

With that said, I own both and wear both, but don’t use them “interchangeably.” For what it’s worth, I find Lemon Line to be an easier and more pleasurable wear than CB... CB does best on “cooler summer evenings,” warm fall days and spring days. Lemon Line is all about spring and summer, and for a citrus, performs well to boot.
I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts, there can be no more hurt, only more love.

id say no, CB has a strong leather vibe, and to me has a more artificial drydown. the best clone ive tried is musc imperiale by atelier, the inital top note of fig is completely diff from aventus obviously, but after about 15 mins the drydown is 90% identical to current batches of aventus.

Cedrat Boise is not a clone of Aventus. CB was released in 2011, barely a year after the release of Aventus and waaaay before Aventus became the hype train that it is today. CB is its own fragrance and smells nothing like Aventus, especially 2010 Aventus, which was more much more smoky than fruity!!! CB shares one fleeting note (black currant) with MODERN Aventus otherwise they are completely different fragrances.

I bought a 5ml sample and was glad I didn't blind buy a whole bottle. Didn't like it.

Default Re: Is Cedrat Boise a safe blind buy?

Never blind buy except you know that you can easily sell the bottle right away if you don't like it.

But I can say that out of the higher priced 'Aventus-esque' fragrances (Nero, Orion, Elysium Cologne, Royal Vintage, Cedrat Boise) Nero and Cedrat Boise were the best ones for me. But in no way a replacement for Aventus. So different enough at least.

For me Mazzolari is very close to Aventus.
Mancera CB does only smell on the first minutes like Aventus...after short time on skin it smells very different to Aventus.
