Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. Very disappointing perfume day. Read in another thread about Cuir Celeste by Ex Nihilo, and I was so sure it was screaming my name: galbanum, leather, violet, osmanthus? Check check check check. Ordered two samples, got them this morning, and was so sure I'd love it that I sprayed it all over me.

No leather, violets or osmanthus. Maybe a smidge of galbanum. Buckets of akagaiwood. Scrubbing requires full shower. This was inspired by a vintage leather bomber jacket? Okay, sure. And I am the Queen of Romania.

Oh no! So sorry to hear it was such a letdown, what a bummer! Maybe enjoy one of your most favorite scents for the evening?

That’s sort of what I’m doing actually. I tried a sample of Dior Joy last night, and was pretty disappointed. It was nice, it was fine, but in my limited experience I’ve still smelled this same thing at least a dozen times. And then after an hour it was nothing but a very quiet musky thing against my skin. Sigh.

Today is gray and rainy, so I’m curled up on the couch with kitty sleeping on my feet, doing my taxes finally, and wrapped in an intoxicating late-summer-rose cloud of:

    Dear Bitches,

Liar, liar, pants on fire. Hanging from a telephone wire. While you're there, cut your hair. Stick it down your underwear.

    Sincerely,

    Cook and Shy

I caught the frog from my swimming pool and put her downhill and slightly downstream behind my back fence. On the way back I considered pruning my little pear tree and saw this:

How many kittens do you think were in there, currently ensconced in his closet? I'm headed their way for supper and wine in A Lilac a Day. (There were ten.)

All day today I have been wearing Mysore Sandalwood samples - one gifted to me and one of my own. Then some of this (from a sample):

    Mukhalat Malaki by Swiss Arabian

I have had this sample for eons - I can't even remember how long. I have to be in the mood for it's slightly synthetic, rubbery rose/oud deluge of accords. Today, I put a tiny swipe on my hands before I went to get sun at the pool in my complex. I quite enjoyed it.
