Have I told you about the scent of jasmine? Have I spoken about the smell of the sea? The earth is scented. And I perfume myself to enhance what I am. That's why I can not wear a perfume that bothers me. Perfuming is an instinctive wisdom. And like all art, it requires some knowledge of yourself..."

    BEIGE PARFUM by CHANEL

Often, when in Vancouver, I browse around the Perfume Departments of Nordstrom and Holt Renfrew. Today, I was at Holt Renfrew and was caught unaware by SA of Acqua di Parma who cheekily, sprayed liberal amounts of ADP Ebano on one arm and Magnolia to the other. Both have a Contemporary start and pulse with their beautiful hearts. Both are rather relentless and of course drydown to a generic WAC popular today.
Today I purchased a Polge gem, Beige by Polge in Parfum. It's charm is the careful use of Orange Blossom without the pulse of Tuberose, Neroli and blasts of Sugared WAC.
WAC is present surely, however Polge, a master of Synth Wood use, presents a watery Transparent Rose in much the same way as No.18.
I gotta love it. Bought it for me, however I will share with my Girl.

I hope you're all enjoying your Sunday. It's finally beautiful here -- chilly and sunny!

I spent yesterday with my best friend from high school, and it was wonderful to see her and catch up. I wore Angelique, and she was wearing Dior Homme EDT. We both love iris.

I am about to head out on the inaugural hike for 2019 -- nearly a month later than last year's, thanks to all of the terrible weather and the mud. I'm hoping the trails are dry enough now that I can enjoy an actual hike as opposed to trying to navigate mud chutes with iffy ankles and aging knees.

To celebrate, I'm wearing my hiking staple, Profumum Roma Ichnusa.

Yesterday's Ex Nihilo misadventure left such a terrible taste in my mouth that today I need a sort of anti-perfume.

Vintage Jean Nate by Charles of the Ritz (pre-Revlon)

And I'm not 100% certain, but I think I remember when these were on the display counters of Jean Nate in the department stores. Might be a fun/kitschy bathroom lamp to have today:

My initial thought was that this was some kind of unusual fragrance bottle, I'm hoping that I'm very mistaken and that it's something else.

I'm reminded of the Moschino brand with their unusual bottle presentation.
