Default Need help on vintage egoiste platinum chanel

    Hello,
I scanned through the threads already tackling this question but could not find one that looks like the bottle I have. On the front it's missing paris and the eau de toilette is below the chanel. At the bottom there is a batch code engraved WJ1.
The smell is fine to my nose, lavender, aromatics and a mossy vibe so far.
Is this a fake? Thanks for your help!

Yes there should be a PARIS label on the bottle. Where did you purchase this bottle?

There's a bottle on eBay that is labeled as Egoiste Platinum with the Eau de Toillete listed at the very bottom.

Thanks! That's what I thought about the PARIS part. I got it from ebay as part of a lot of fragrances being auctioned.

The older bottles read "Platinum Egoiste" instead of "Egoiste Platinum" correct?? They also have the black wood grained cap. And...should have the word Paris under Chanel. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    I think I'm partly wrong.

No wood cap for Egoiste Platinum.

The OP's bottle was made in New York, so it would say Paris and New York if anything, I think, and not just Paris.

You can see the bottle is mostly similar to the one I have pictured above. I'm guessing the OP's bottle is from later in the 90s.

To get the picture to post right-side up, you have to edit the picture on your device first. Change something about it, a little cropping or a size-change, and save it right-side-up, and then other computers will recognize which part you want up.

I've seen "Platinum Egoiste" with the plastic "wood grain" cap. Similar to this Egoiste bottle.

I can't say for sure, but I'm guessing someone put an Egoiste cap on Platinum Egoiste. Of course, it could have been someone in the Chanel factory, although I'd be surprised.

I would think that it didn't happen at the factory. Either way the cap wouldn't really bother me as long as the juice is correct. I guess the cap does actually signify the platinum.

Going a bit off topic but does anyone own an Egoiste bottle that has both Paris and New York below Eau de Toilette?

Platinum Egoiste never existed with that plastic wooden textured cap.

So....I received my bottle of Platinum Egoiste with the correct cap. My first bottle reads "Made in USA". The bottle I received today reads "Made in France" and has the funny address on it. Chanel is very confusing . Although most say that their reformulations are just as good as early formulations.
