    Question Fragrance Discounters?

    Hello fellow Basenoters,

Just curious where you all buy your favorite scents from? I used to be a big fan of Notino before they stopped shipping to the US.I am not a fan of the selection that is offered at FragranceNet either. Do you have any alternatives that you can suggest?

    Thank you in advance!

For me - Jovoy, First in Fragrance, ParfuMaria, Premiere Avenue, Sens Unique, Elysees Parfums. La Maison Du Parfum, Luckyscent and others outside the US. These are not discounters of course, just online retailers.

Above, I've bolded those that I've dealt with in the past. All have been positive experiences.

I like to buy discounted fragrances from Fragrancenet, Fragrancex, and Maxaroma.

For mainstream niche and designers that are not discounted I like to use Neiman Marcus.

For niche fragrances that aren't generally discounted I used Luckyscent, Osswald's, and Essenza Nobile.

For Chanel's I only use Chanel.com. And for Dior, if it's not discounted, I use dior.com.

For Maison Francis Kurkdjian fragrances I order directly from the website. It comes from France but is less expensive and usually gets here just as quickly, if only a day or two later. They have very fast shipping.

I don't really use anything else then those I've mentioned above. Occasionally I'll use Beauty Encounter if I'm desperate. I've never had a real problem with them, and sometimes they have great discounts, but there's something a little...."shabby" about their operation. I'm not sure if it's their website, they way they pack their fragrances, or if they're stock might be a little old, but for whatever reason, they're not my favorite.

    Some of my favorites:

    Non-discounted: Luckyscent, Neiman Marcus

    Discounted: FragranceNet, FragranceX

Low price due to overseas: First in Fragrance

I agree with Buysblind - when I first got into this hobby, I made many purchases with Beauty Encounter. I don't use them much anymore. I don't know why. There is... something... not bad, just a little second-rate. Maybe it was slow shipping? I don't remember, but maybe I will have to make a purchase from them again soon.
    Current Summer Favorites:

    1. Xerjoff - Nio
    2. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
    3. Dior - Homme Cologne 2013
    4. The Different Company - De Bachmakov
    5. Armani - Code Sport Athlete
    6. Montale - Aoud Legacy
    7. Dior - Homme Sport 2008
    8. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
    9. Ermenegildo Zegna - Sicilian Mandarin
    10. Creed - Pure White Cologne

Two that I use in the US that haven't been mentioned are Maxaroma and La Belle Perfumes. Niche Essence in Canada and Fragrance & Art in Sweden are two outside of the US that I've used.

Same here. Beauty Encounter sometimes has things in stock that FragranceX (my favorite discount store) doesn't, but order processing is slow and they ship in bubblewrap envelopes instead of boxes.

Like dougczar, for nondiscounted items I like Luckyscent and Neiman Marcus. And only Chanel's website for Chanel purchases.

Most likely Amazon, I have a prime membership, they stock a good range of discounted frags and if anything looks “dodgy” their returns policy is fantastic and hassle free.

I also use Fragrance Direct but not so much these days (Amazon is just easier).

On the high street it’s a mix between Debenhams, House of Fraser, John Lewis, Harvey Nichols and Selfridges for the most part. I always try before I buy after a few bad experiences with blind buys and only tend to get discounted frags that I’m already familiar with.
My Top 6 Most Complimented of 2019:-

    1). Eros Flame - Versace
    2). Sauvage - Dior
    3). L’homme - Lacoste
    4). Aventus - Creed
5). Allure Homme Sport - Chanel
    6), Tommy - Tommy Hilfiger

Online, I've had good experiences with fragrancex.

In person, I just discovered that the Century21 near me has a pretty large selection of fragrances, at discounts that are good, but not quite as good as fragrancex or fragrancenet. However, the advantage there is that they have tester bottles of everything they're selling, so you get to smell them first, and of course, since it's brick-and-mortar, you get the bottle in your hot little hands as soon as you buy it. If you've got a Century21 store near you, it's worth the trip.

So far, got a good track record of both genuineness and fair pricing from discounters like Notino.
While from online retailers with regular pricing rather than discounters (however not fully excluding that they may provide occasional discounts, promotional offers, clearance sales etc.) with the websites of German/Austrian retailers like Douglas, Galeria Kaufhof, Karstadt, but also Manufactum.de and/or Manufactum.at, along with the local-national website of l'Occitane.
Plus a few local direct authorized importers/distributors of traditional, mostly British and German, shaving gear, yet at the same time not so unexpectedly well stocked on traditional shaving cosmetics and fragrance from mass market to niche pricing and business models as well (the two Manufactum sites occasionally overlapping with this as well, along with the more traditional upscale masculine scented and/or shaving product lines by l'Occitane).

However also admitting that most of these may be, if not sketchy, at least less easily predictable on their shipping costs to the US, but they do remain quite affordable and reliable in the EU (if buying with the help of any European friend/acquaintance is or should ever become an option). Alternatively, hoping that Notino may resume their US shipping, as they seem to be handling this quite ok almost anywhere else.

    Fragnet
    Ebay
    Fragbuy.ca
    FragranceX
Scentedmonkey (I try to use this site as little as possible, cause customer support is the worst, but sometimes they have rare stuff for cheap)
Perfumania (sometimes they have some rare deals, like right now 4.2 AdG Profumo is $69 shipped, which is the lowest price I've seen on the internet for a new retail bottle)
    Luckyscent (my preferred for niche/luxe)
Maxaroma (only used them twice, but they seem very good)
Strawberrynet (haven't used them in years, but they were good, and had some rare stuff too)
Macys.com (when they run their annual sale once a year and discount all frags 15%, it's the best time to get stuff like Dior)

Regular collections: I don't buy regular collections at full retail
Regular collections and mainstream luxury collections: Fragrancenet, Fragrancebuy.ca, MaxAroma, Amazon, eBay, forums (with PayPal 3% insurance fee). Sometimes I plan ahead when visiting France, and order on Amazon.fr or Parfumdo.fr if the prices are lower than the US (rare)
Mainstream luxury collections unavailable online or unavailable at lower than full retail prices: directly at the bricks'n mortar brand stores in Paris (Dior, Diptyque or so), with tax refund
Niche (aka indie): eBay or forums (with PayPal 3% insurance fee)
Niche (aka indie) unavailable on eBay or unavailable at lower than full retail prices: directly at the bricks'n mortar indie perfume stores in Paris (Jovoy, Nose and Sens Unique), with tax refund
Niche (aka indie) unavailable anywhere: directly on their websites

Just a question though: you state "I am not a fan of the selection that is offered at FragranceNet"... FragNet basically offers 90% the same stuff as other online discounters (what Notino offered, what FragranceX, FragranceBuy, Beauty Encounter currently offer)... so what do you mean exactly by that?
