    Default Maya Njie - Perfumer?

Following links at the end of a guardian article, there was a throw away comment to this "niche London house producing scents inspired by her childhood in Sweden and West Africa". I know female perfumers are rare and I'm guessing women of colour in the perfume world even rarer.

I've asked for her house to be added to the directory and have sent off for samples of her current range (£17 for 5). Curious if anyone else has tried these?

Other women of colour in the perfume world you all want to shout about?

Side question. Why do you stress so much on "women of color"? Does race\sex\origin\whatever matter?

Because structural inequality is a well documented phenomenon. The best way to break out of conventional thinking is to see things from a different perspective. So searching out those perspectives in life is important to me.

Nordic Cedar sounds interesting to me

I'm actually wearing this one today! The first burst is all cedar and white musk with a slightly salty quality. Like standing on the edge of an evergreen cliff next to the sea. As it dries, I get hints of petrichor and the cedar morphs into a more general evergreen along with a bit of an earthy sweetness. I get a soft sweet floral as it sits still along with the white musk and evergreen notes. Maybe something cinnamon? It's a really lovely scent, though it doesn't last super long (2-3 hours).

I've also worn her Les Fleurs which again has a lovely richness to it, soft - like a bouquet of wildflowers on a sunny windowsill, but again doesn't last as long as I'd like.

I'll post notes of the others as I try them

I blind bought -- well on the recommendation of a trusted woman friend

    I thought I had posted a review -- D'oh

It's basically a joyful accord of pineapple, fig and coconut which finishes being joined by a sophisticated woody musk. It is insanely gorgeous imo and cost me £85 for 50ml. Longevity and projection are both terrific

I'd like to hear your opinion if you buy it
