Default Is this a Vintage Chanel Antaeus?

Hi all! We recently came across this Chanel Antaeus Pour Homme. We have been looking for more information about it, it doesn't have the 'PARIS' part written under the title on front like many of the other bottles. So we are wondering whether it might be a vintage bottle?

This is a 3.4 oz spray size. Photos attached for front and back. The top is a silve metal piece, the bottle is black glass.

If it is vintage, any ideas on date/era? Thank you!!s-l1600 (1).jpgs-l1600 (2).jpg

Going by the cap, I'd say so. Would be curious as to the dates too, as I have a vintage bottle with a cap with the golden bit in the centre and am unsure on when they changed those bottles out

Vintage Antaeus made in the US from the '80s. A very good looking bottle.

Thank you for your help guys, that is good to know! It is a great fragrance, smells like much higher quality than the standard. Not sure if this is true of the modern version though.

Hi Bavard, I believe you're a fountain of knowledge on all things Antaeus! I'm wondering if you could help with these images of two bottles. Do they appear genuine vintage or fake. Any help would be appreciated. Many thanks. I'm thinking late 80s or 90s. The good stuff.

Regardless it's going to be good given the EDT is above the Paris. Personally I'd like to know when my bottle was from. I really enjoy the earliest formulations of Antaeus from the early 80s.

Got it in the mail today! I could tell right away this bottle has not been sprayed in some time. I had to do two or three sprays just to get anything to come out like what you would do with a new bottle. But MAN... this is some stout stuff and smells exactly how I thought it would. Potent but also tame at the same time of that makes sense.

Since you mentioned it I decided to squirt some early 1980s Antaeus on my upper arm. This stuff is very smooth despite animalistic nature of the scent. I find it quite versatile even with 3-4 sprays on, it never becomes unpleasant in the same way Kouros does.

Did yours dry down to almost a creamy aroma? I had took a shower after a couple of hours and I was left with a very pleasant creamy smell!

Either you haven’t smelled vintage or you haven’t smelled current. I can assure you they are quite different.

Just went by the Chanel boutique here in NYC and sprayed Antaeus to confirm. The current is still good. But thinner, less creamy, less leathery and way less animalic. It’s more safe and therefore probably more wearable for the average wearer. But there is a pretty big difference between the original and the current.

Agree 100%. I think a lot of people who would think they “are the same” are saying that because they both smell good. But that does not justify the difference in vintage vs current. They both smell good without a doubt but they are different and the vintage is way more authentic in my opinion.

I find the current to be good, like a "summer flanker" to the original as it lacks the castoreum oomph.

Antaeus is pretty robust and holds up well over time, but it will lose notes if exposed to light / heat. I try to stay away from spray heads where you see a lot of yellowing or brownish residue. Always best to ask the seller to clean the sprayer. If it still looks stained, then that may be a sign that the bottle went through some rough times.
