Default Question about Clive Christian 1872 Limited Editions

    Hey everyone,

Have you tried the Clive Christian 1872 Limited editions like Bergamot, Basil, or Leather? Were they significantly different and/or better than the original 1872 for Men?

Considering whether to get a limited edition or stick to the regular 1872.

Particularly looking for information about Basil.

I wrote this about 1872 Basil in a different thread a few months back:

As it opens you get a somewhat sharp, yet well done, combination of mint and basil. They play nicely together and give this fragrance a cool refreshing effect. As it dries down these notes become softer and it moves more towards the direction of the original 1872 and I do feel the base is slightly more woody. Projection and longevity seemed above average. This one will be great for spring / summer.

Do you prefer it to regular 1872? How is the performance compared to the regular?

Own them all and although not sure if I'd say better, they are somewhat different than the original.

I only have experience with Mandarin and Vetiver. I would sell a kidney for 1872 Vetiver. I think I like that one even better than the original. The Mandarin is nice, but nothing I would go out of my way for and think it is a little below the original. There is something that seemed a little odd about the composition - but it has been some time since I have worn that - I will have to dig out my sample and give it another wearing soon.

Sadly, those are the only two I am familiar with. I would like to try more of the 1872 flankers and also to try some of the X variants.
    Current Spring Favorites:

    1. Creed - Spice & Wood
    2. by Kilian - Straight to Heaven
    3. Dior - Vetiver
    4. Clive Christian - 1872 for Men
    5. Tom Ford - Rive d’Ambre
    6. Ermenegildo Zegna - Javanese Patchouli
    7. Les Nez - Turtle Vetiver Back
    8. Tom Ford - Grey Vetiver EDP
    9. Creed - Green Valley
    10. Parfumerie Generale - Grand Siecle Intense 7.1

I really like them both, it depends on what kind of mood I'm in as to which I would choose.

I feel 1872 Basil is a little stronger than the original, but be sure that you like mint, if you don't like mint you should go with the original.
