Default Patricia de Nicolaï - Guerlain connection, whoa.

For anyone that hasn't sniffed any Parfums de Nicolaï frags, go and do so.

So yeah, wow, I had no idea that Patricia is from the Guerlain family!! She's the great-granddaughter of Pierre Guerlain and the niece of Jean-Paul Guerlain! That's crazy.

And something else that might pique the interest of some Basenoter's even more-so is... she's the president of the Osmothèque. Holy cow!

I'll have to check out more of PdN's stuff now.

Nicolai is one of the better houses in the niche / specialty-perfume-shop / limited distribution market, for my tastes. There's a gravitas and classic style to the line.

Excellent ingredients and quality in Nicolai fragrances for the money. And I especially like the way she sells small (1 oz) bottles in her line without raising the price per ml to a ridiculous and unfair degree.

Other houses would be wise to do the same thing.

Have you tried New York Intense?

Its dry down is sublime. Perhaps the best dry down of any masculine frag released since 2010s.

I bought Sacre Bleu Intense after getting a sample and love the Heure Bleue meets Smarties vibe. I haven't tried anything else though. I wonder whether they sell sample / discovery sets...

Yes, really an excellent house which does not get the exposer it should.

It was always known she was related to the Guerlain family, many thought she should have been the nose of the company when Jean-Paul retired.

Some years back twice a year they had great sales in the boutiques only(not online), I used to phone the London store and got some excellent deals.

    New York
    Baladin
    Sacrebleu
    Vanilla Tonka
    Maharadjah (discontinued)
    Haute Provence (discontinued)

Are the ones I own in the original style 50mls bottles I own.

Then Tender Kiss in the newer 30mls sizes they do. Never understood why they discontinued the 50mls?

Have over 25 of her fragrances. Love her house.

New York Intense is one of the niche scents that's highest on my to-try list.

Just back from a few days in Paris. And I did stop in her rue Poincare store (the main one). I already own several of her perfumes. This time, I bought New York Intense. I concur with others, the drydown is really lovely. Somehow she manages to recreate a sort of alternative, but satisfying, chypre.

New York Intense really needs to be sampled by most people. It is in the genre of Creed Bois du Portugal,Guerlain Heritage etc.
I have a bottle of Maharinha Intense which is a big Feminine realm.

I have a decant of Oud Sublime which is again an " eye-roller"
Scarcity is an illusion. Unlearn it.

Yep, owned it before. But I may have sold it in favor of BdP (which I still don't own, haha). May re-acquire New York Intense or just finally get BdP - don't know.

    Are they that similar?

(Slightly off-topic, BdP is my favorite Creed, but now that I have Lalique Pour Homme Lion, any desire I had to pick up BdP has mostly dissipated.)

Relative to BdP, New York intense is more citrusy, lighter on the wood and the aromatics, and has a more distinctly chypre drydown.
