I really like Straight to Heaven - the boozy note on top is super strong, but to me the best part is the cedar in the heart, after the rum/bourbon/brandy type note wears off a bit. One of the best cedar notes I've encountered.

Today I took delivery of my first ever blind buy, Quorum Silver. Now I always get samples first but had the opportunity to snag a new 100ml bottle locally for just £5. Quorum original is a favourite (although I know scents aren't to be compared, but still), love cedar scents and the reviews seemed perfect, so it was a no brainer.

Very disappointed. It's just so sweet. Infact it reminds me of Al Rehab Sultan (which might be a clone?) in that the sweetness makes it too feminine to my nose.

A cheap lesson on why samples are so important!

I prefer L'Instant EDT to EDP, so thumbs up as far as I'm concerned.

Dior Fahrenheit 1994 bottle - not a lot left, but I may not hang onto the bottle anyways (have a '96 that's divine). For some reason I prefer the 90's bottle(s) to the 88's I had - just smells better.

Guerlain Vetiver - finally! Never owned it in the ribbed bottle. I read about avoiding from '08-'14 or something like that - this one is a 2003, woo!

Congrats on the Fahrenheit, something about those older bottles seems way more esoteric and almost "mystical" than the newer more streamlined design.

I ordered a bottle of Rive Gauche from Amazon last night. I can't wait to finally get my nose on this legendary frag. Also, a clone called RazoRock "American Barber," which is supposedly closer than the Fine Accoutrements clone. That one's going in the gym bag.

    Vera Wang for Men

Really lovely. It develops differently, but upon first inhale my thought was of L'Instant Pour Homme (the EDT, not Extreme), which released the same year.

    Thanks!

A while back I went to a little perfume shop and they had a what appeared to be sealed Rive Gauche Pour Homme tin can type. Maybe I should go back and see if they still have it..
