Default Wet Shaving With A Pocket Knife?

Well, I didn't think it was really possible until I came to the 5 minute mark in this video.

Wouldn't recommend that. Anyways, Cold Steel makes some great products at a reasonable price!

Maybe the barber stropped the pocket-knife first?

Didn't think it was possible? How do you think it was done prior to the safety razor? For several thousands of years, that's all that was available.

I have watched movies in which knives are used to shave. Movie BS of course, but Cold Steel is impressive.

Razors have thousands of years of their own history.

A buddy of mine in college did this once. He was always doing crazy stuff and we had an argument about whether you could do it or not, after watching it done on some TV show. Sure enough, he went to the bathroom and started doing it. It was taking too long so after a few slides across his jaw, even though it was working, he gave up and used a regular safety razor.

I've bought the extra large version of that pocket knife as a present for a cousin who collects pocket knives. So I opened and closed it on receipt to make sure it was okay.

I had the uncomfortable feeling that I was going to to chop my fingers off if I wasn't careful.

Thanks. I think that's because one needs proper steel and good knowledge about how to prepare it.

I guess it's just one of life's mysteries that people fork out over a hundred or more dollars buying straight edge razors, when they could instead be using a $10 or $20 pocket knife, or a
$10 Chinese straight edge razors from Ebay.

I also wonder why most men didn't shave themselves prior to WW1, when access to both knives and pocket knives was not uncommon.

Makes me wonder why men nowadays don't routinely use their nice stainless steel pocket knives to shave, instead of their expensive cartridge and DE razors. Your premise suggests that this should indeed be the case, at least in part

Yeah. Sure. If you would rather do that....go ahead and go for it? lol
Shave with a spoon if you want. I have some spoons here I can send you. Do you need some? lol. It all sounds great to me.
Maybe shave with a box of jello since you enjoy this kind of weirdness. Tell us all about it.

Either that or you don't want to play into someone's game of being a contrarian just for the sake of being one.

Again, another mystery you raise - why men haven't been shaving with spoons for thousands of years.

No one raised these 'mysteries' but you. Why are you asking this? It's like you're trolling yourself. lol
I mean, it's entertaining. It's fun, yeah. But also just weird. The biggest mystery so far....

Perhaps, since these mysteries are plainly unmysterious to you, you may wish to share the revelations here.
Else, I will assume you don't know, and the mysteries stand.
    Regards,
    Renato

P.S. Another mystery - how does he eat with the razor sharp spoon?
If he doesn't for fear of slicing his mouth up - is it really a spoon?
And if it's not really a spoon, what did he shave with?

Here's another mystery. It's not wet shaving. It's just shaving. Shaving. Maybe it's a region thing. But it's redundant.

If you're ok with spoon shaving, why are you so surprised that people shaved with knives for thousands of years? I guess to lighten the mood, you could call me a wanker? Then I say, no, you're a wanker? Then everyone has a haughty laugh.

So - you don't have any answers or revelations.
    Just another question instead.

It's your topic. Ignoring historical facts is so super badass, though, I have to admit.
