Cool Your All Time Top 20 Vintage Wardrobe

If you could time travel and buy anything you wish in any formulation, but had to restrict yourself to twenty bottles strictly, which ones would you choose?

    Here's mine -

    Kouros
    Rive Gauche pour Homme
    New-York
    Patou Pour Homme
    Eau Sauvage
    Habit Rouge
    Heritage
    Derby
    Le 3me Homme de Caron
    Blend 30
    Baie de Genievre
    Havana
    Givenchy Gentleman
    Versace L'Homme
    Gucci Nobile
    Azuree
    Bel Ami
    Moschino pour Homme
    Egoiste
    Antaeus

Fahrenheit and Cool Water miss out narrowly.

    What would be in yours?
a bottle a day keeps the doc away

Guerlain, Chanel, and Dior for me, mostly.

Guerlain's such as (1) Vol de Nuit, (2) Sous le Vent, (3) Nahema, (4) Chant d'Aromes, (5) Habit Rouge, (6) Eau de Cologne Imperiale, (7) Mitsouko, (8) L'Heure Bleue, and (9) Derby.

Chanel's such as (10) No. 5, (11) Bois des Iles, (12) Cuir de Russie, (13) Pour Monsieur, (14) Antaeus, (15) Egoiste, and (16) Pour Monsieur Concentree.

Dior's such as (17) Miss Dior, (18) Jules, (19) Fahrenheit, and (20) Dior Homme. For something older, maybe Dior Dior instead for number 20.

I could also make a decent list with none of these three houses.

Tough question for a vintage geek like me. Here's my top 20, after much thought.

    Miss Dior
    Diorella
    No. 19
    L’Origan
    Joy
    Bandit
    Vent Vert
    Jolie Madame
    Cabochard
    Parfum Sacre
    My Sin
    Bal a Versailles
    Zibeline
    Shocking
    Givenchy III
    Vol de Nuit
    Chamade
    Nahema
    Madame Rochas
    Scherrer by Scherrer

The struggle to get this list down to only 20 was real. Here are some that almost made my list...

No. 5, Shalimar, Mitsouko, L'Heure Bleue, Parure, Jardins de Bagatelle, Dioressence, Crepe de Chine, Fracas, Femme, Tabac Blond, Nuit de Noel, Narcisse Noir, 1000, Paloma Picasso (especially the vintage parfum), Metal, Miss Balmain, Le Dix, L'Interdit, Ysatis

Nice to see some love for vintage Blue Grass on HouseofPhlegethon's list - such a beautiful feminine fougere in its original incarnation.

And it pains me that I left Je Reviens off my list, but HouseofPhlegethon and Bonnette fixed it.

And now I want to go back and add Coty Paris...

Wow, I’ve only smelled three or four of these, so I’m excited to explore. Especially the Dior section. I love diorella (and hate but respect Fahrenheit) but don’t know many other vintage Diors. Also, I’ve never tried Vol de Nuit, despite loving Guerlain.

Feminines also included, both as gift idea and also to experience the unisex aspect as well especially if budget would be no issue, otherwise in no particular order:

    Rive Gauche Intense
almost any vintage Lancetti, particularly Lancetti Uomo
    Spazio Krizia

Notable mentions that did not make it to the top list but were nevertheless close calls, likeliest to displace/complete this particular lineup, again only to name a few (more), especially:

I like these. I got to smell Gengis Khan from Cytherian's collection, and it had a nice, classic feel.

Checking out Cologne Connoisseur's collection, wow! Lots of good stuff in there. Heavy on classics, and some greatest hits marketed to women.

+1 Bonnette for listing Guerlain L’Heure Bleue, followed by Mitsouko. Everything else is interchangeable. I don’t have a fixed top 20.

Well, guys, with an agreement on 11 out of 20, I believe that the copy/paste is a good option !
