    Default 5 fall/winter, 5 spring/summer fragrance wardrobe

    Hello,

    I recently posted my first post asking mainly about recommendations for a summer night fragrance. Although, I now realize I need help with much more than that. I am planning on buying 5 fragrances for spring/summer and 5 for winter/fall that will suit all occasions in order to build a good foundation. What I currently own, and plan on keeping, is;

    Spring/summer
    - Terre d'Hermes
    - Issey Miyake pour homme

    Fall/winter
    -Spicebomb extreme

And have owned; Bleu de Chanel, Byredo Sunday cologne, Versace Eros, Dior Savauge EdP (but the first two are empty and the others have been sold)

I am quite young and I am planning on building the fragrance wardrobe over time. I live in Sweden so cold winters and decent summers (around 20 degrees Celsius during summer and a couple of minus in winter). I am not overly concerned with cost although I'm mainly going to buy reasonably priced fragrances but if I find something I really like I can stretch my budget.

Thanks in advance for the help

Why 5? Why not 3, why not 10, why not 1-2?
What I am trying to say is that you should buy only those fragrances that you absolutely love and not just hit the desired number.
P.S. If you are from Stockholm - I'd recommend you to checkout niche fragrances at NK huset.
P.P.S. You can also check out Sniph.se, I absolutely love this service

I see your point, what I was trying to convey was the size of my desired collection (not to big but still versatile)

If I were to build an idealized collection:

    Spring/Summer
    • Aramis Havana
    • Dior Eau Sauvage EDT
    • Floris Leather Oud
    • Lalique Pour Homme (Lion) EDP
    • Odori Tabacco

    Fall/Winter
    • Guerlain Heritage EDT
    • Guerlain L'Instant Pour Homme EDT
    • Michael Kors Michael for Men
    • Tauer Au Coeur du Désert
    • Tom Ford Ombré Leather

Now, that's just my personal taste, and my taste skews towards stuff that's kinda "classically elegant with a twist," like a suit and tie paired with an offbeat accessory.

For you, I'd recommend sampling Cartier L'Envol EDP. An elegant blend of bright honey and dewy florals over a more contemporary amberwoody base. I think it's quite lovely and it doesn't wear "mature" or "old-fashioned."

    I'm predictable!

It's a very "me" scent, an immaculate, sophisticated masculine scent that has just enough oddness--that dirty tobacco--that it can't quite fall into line with mainstream tastes. Shame it was discontinued, but at least I have a backup bottle.

Hopefully I'll track down a bottle soon. I have tons of it's replacement, Michael Kors. Bought another 4 oz bottle this weekend at Marshall's.

I like classic fragrances that have stuck around without being too damaged by reformulation.

What do you make of Chanel Platinum Egoiste and Dior Fahrenheit?

For the winter, since you live in Sweden, I would think for something very warm, woody-vanillic, like Chanel Egoiste.

Habit Rouge? Suitable for young people?

My tastes don't skew especially youthful, but even I found that one, lovely though it is, old-fashioned enough that it was a bit challenging to wear.

Not to discourage the OP from trying it, mind you. I recommend that anyone getting into fragrances try some of the classics.

How do you feel it compares to the original Michael, I had it a few years back when I was just getting into the hobby and remember it being quite nice I never smelled the original Michael though.

Here is my suggestions for fall/winter:

    Valentino Uomo intense
Issey Miyake Pour Homme Noir Ambre - might be hard to find, it smells very very nice, warm cozy and inoffensive
John Varvatos Dark Rebel - a bit daring scent
John Varvatos Vintage - great for fall

And few others which could be hard to wear for you:
    Dior Homme perfume
    Dior Fahrenheit perfume
Givenchy Gentleman (original) or Giorgio Beverly hills for men

Same here. I've never tried original Michael either. So, unfortunately, I cannot give a comparison between them. But I love Michael Kors for Men. I smells very bright but also with some musk and suede added in when you first spray it. Once it starts to dry, I get a strong hint on honey and patchouli, but it's not sweet. I didn't like it the first time I tried it, but the scent lingered FOREVER and I became obsessed with it. At the time I sprayed it, I left the store and forgot the name of it, so it took me several weeks to figure out that I had sprayed Michael Kors for Men.

It may not be the most loved out there, but to me, it's VERY hard to beat it.
