Default Why so much hate for dior homme spor 2017?

It is a damn good fragrance. The only reason for its critisism is the name, which gets it compared to its previous versions. But imagine if Dior didn't include it in its Dior Homme line and named it differently. It would be a big hit. Miles better than Sauvage.

I blind bought it when it came out. I think it is nice. Not nearly as good as the 2008 or 2012 versions, but much better than most of the things out there for sure. Just comes off as a bit more synthetic and artificial than the previous versions. Still quite nice however.

But yes - it is VASTLY superior to Sauvage, which is a chemical mess and an assault on the nose.

It's my first blind buy. I agree it's a good fragrance. I haven't smelled the 2008 version but I had a bottle of 2012 which I soon sold afterwards. Based on the female reactions I witnessed... I'd say this is on the same level as Sauvage in terms of mass appeal. For people who don't like Sauvage (me), this could be a good variant. I think the key is one or two sprays max, more and it can become annoying. Having said that, I've no worn it in over a year.

Dior should have chosen another name for Dior Homme Sport 2008 and 2012 - not for the 2017 one.
Iris in a "sport" fragrance... seriously?

I just don't dig any of the versions

I actually prefer Gucci Sport (even though Colin Mallard saved up his most scathing review for this one)

Did test a few time the 2017 version of this fragrance (though almost incidentally, never being aware of this particular year of this fragrance release nor deliberately interested in this formulation or passionate about but not against it either) simply because it was in the stores and happened to test it in this interval.

Must say to not have understood any reasons for any hate or dislike about it, having personally perceived this as quite decent compared both to other formulations of it sampled and the track record of both this fragrance series and even the fragrance house in general.

I think I liked the 2017 more than the 2012. Then I got to try the 2008 that a Sephora employee made a sample/decant of for me, and I'd maybe prefer that of the 3.

An iris sport fragrance is bound to furrow some brows in the "I know better than you" crowd around these parts, and although I agree it isn't terribly standout, I do like it and reviewed it favorably. I'd go with Dior Homme Eau over this however.

Hate? Where exactly is this ‘hate’?? I certainly don’t recall any online vitriol for what is pretty much a ‘non-starter’.

I’ve been wearing Cologne a lot lately and love it! Longevity is an issue but I don’t mind applying more!

Thread summary = it's a good scent but everyone is mad that it's called Sport (or spor) instead of just being it's own non-flanker scent. The name is hated, not so much the scent.

Which is different from any other flankers? Any other fragrances?

That really IS the purpose of the industry... any industry, no? It's the consumers that drive the direction and provide immediate and unforgiving financial feedback as to what is wanted and what is not.

I thought the original DHS was a really nice scent and better than anything I can think of marketed as a "sport" scent.
I tried it again last year ( not sure if that was 2017 version but was what they were selling in John Lewis) and it still seemed decent to me, though from what I remember it was lacking something compared to the version from 5 or 6 years ago.

I'm wearing this from a sample today, and I think it's nice. I'm not sure if it's anything more than just nice, though. To me, it's the definition of a dumb reach: easy, inoffensive, brainless. While I definitely prefer it to things like Sauvage and Bleu de Chanel, I'm not sure I can fully get onboard with it because it doesn't really seem to have much distinctive character of its own.

Never noticed any real hate on this release. Personally, I own it and like it a lot.

Unlike many I actually prefer it to the 2012 release, which I found to have an very harsh, scratchy drydown. The opening was very nice though.
