Default Help Me Choose A Fragrance for the Opera

Next month I will be attending two opera performances in the opulent Mariinsky Theater: The Magic Flute, and Eugene Onegin. I will be wearing a well fit black suit. The fragrances below are the ones I'm planning to bring on the trip.
    1. Which of the fragrances listed would you recommend me to wear?
    2. Would you recommend that I wear something that I want to build scent memories with even if it doesn't quiet fit the occasion?
    3. Lastly, which fragrance in your collection would you wear to an opera?

    What I'm bringing:
    Dior Homme Cologne.
    Armani Stronger With You.

    Samples:
    Neroli Portofino Acqua.
    Creed Bois du Portugal.
    MFK Oud Satin Mood.
    Replica Jazz Club.
    Creed Virgin Island Water.

My vote would be for Creed Bois du Portugal.

From your list I agree with Hednic, I would go with Bois du Portugal.

From what I own if I were going to an Opera I would also give Bois du Portugal consideration along with:

    Roja Danger Pour Homme
    Roja Amber Aoud
    Guerlain Heritage
    Chanel Pour Monsieur
    Creed Royal Water
    Creed Royal Mayfair

I would probably be indecisive about it for a bit, then grab one of the seven which I felt like wearing the most in the moment.

Last time I went to opera I wore MFK Oud Satin Mood, but it was still winter here.
For summer BdP might be a better option, depending on a temperature, ofc

    Bois du Portugal.

As far as what *I* would wear, I typically wear Tom Ford Ombré Leather to the opera.

The Magic Flute is fun, so Neroli Portofino Acqua. Onegin is much more serious, so I'll go the the majority and say Bois du Portugal.

Well played. I would agree that those two operas are vastly different, and I love the idea of matching scents with the nature of the operas.

I have subscribed to the Met for almost half my life, so I confess that I usually don’t regard going as the special occasion it should be. I just wear whatever fragrance I happen to be wearing. In St. Petersburg, however, I might very well pretend I am at a Tchaikovsky premiere, particularly if the performance is on the original stage.

I’m surprised nobody is suggesting Cuir de Russie (pick your producer).

Stop overthinking it. Wear whatever the hell you're in the mood to wear. That's going to be the best way to "build scent memories".

But if you can't just wear whatever you're in the mood to wear, then Creed BdP. Not because I think it's the most appropriate of what you have but because I think it's the best fragrance out of what you have.

What would I wear from my collection? Depends on my mood, but probably Egoiste.

That makes a lot of sense. The Magic Flute has very serious moments in the libretto, and a lot of philosophic and religious content, but the overall tone is light, happy, and even a little childlike. Neroli Portofino Aqua is a near perfect choice. I'll have to go with Bois du Portugal for Eugene Onegin, since everyone says it's a good choice and I agree. Also, I think BDP matches the historic theater where it will be performed. Thanks all!

    EDP! Indeed!

I like the EDT for fancy theaters because:

1 - wife's fave (happy wife and all)
2 - covers up my "old guy smell" very nicely
3 - blends well with her Chanel No. 5 L'Eau

I've also layered it with No. 5 Eau Première, and that combination smells awesome and very fancy, but a bit dramatic. It gets attention from people who recognize No. 5 but know it's not quite that.
