Default What frags have you got rid of, only to reacquire sometime later?

A whirling winding road so is this fragrance hobby

Recently ( I guess with a little more nuance in the nose) I find myself re-acquiring some of the frags I had gotten rid of, written off and the like:

    Habit Rouge ( just cuz)
Pour Lui (revolving door with this around a year ago - now its staying formly in!! - could well be my 'desert island/for life' frag)
Red Beverley Hills ( THAT dry down)
    Worth ( 'need' it again)
Azzaro PH ( Crazy fool for gettin rid)
Lalique PH Lion (what was I thinking !)
Desire Red ( kinds want it again - i feel I know how to apply this now - minimally)
    EN Extreme ( just cuz)

Do you do - have you done this?
    What , why, where, when...

I had a bottle of D&G The One a few years ago that I lent to my brother because I didn't like it. He had it for about a year but barely wore it. I ended up stealing it back from him and discovered that my girlfriend at the time loved the scent. It's still not my favorite, but for one reason or another, I came to enjoy it on the second round.

Fahrenheit is one that absolutely repulsed me the first time I smelled it. I now own a full bottle

    Aramis Tobacco Reserve!

An excellent tobacco fragrance that I sorely underrated the first time around.

None. I try to not get rid of fragrances because I know I may change my mind later. Should that happen, I know I'll be really pissed off that I got rid of it.

Many, stuff in my current wardrobe revisiting with a new bottle on some has allowed me to know a second time I don’t enjoy some and then it’s gone for good. Mind you this is after many many wearings, and the others I enjoy after revisiting I’m glad to have again because they serve a purpose and are of quality.

None, so far. Although I only own one fragrance that I really do not like at all. Bogart Arabian Nights. It was a blind buy, but a cheapie, so not really worth getting rid of. Club 75 from the same house is quite enjoyable, however.

As I mostly have cheapies, selling anything would cost more in shipping than I could even get for the bottles. LOL! I suppose if I had a Creed or something I didn't like, I would probably try to sell it to recoup some of my money.

Bleu de Channel. Currently have the EDT and love it more than the EDP, tho I've not smelled the Parfum.
Is the juice worth the squeeze?

Only one. Le Labo The Noir 29. I tried it early on in my fragrance journey and bought a bottle but I didn't fully appreciate it, sold it. Fast forward a few years and having sniffed hundreds more, I had my original sample in a drawer and sprayed it. Had to have it (again), bottle arrived and it's not going anywhere again.

I feel like the nose learns the more we smell and this kind of dovetails into why I revisit things I tried in the past occasionally to find something I was lukewarm on I now really like. Conversely I have had things that were the "greatest ever" that I bought early in my fragrance journey that are much less great now that I have been exposed to so much more.

Yep. I have thought about selling AdP Colonia Quercia because I haven't really liked it much in the past. It had been several months since my last wearing. I wore it again the other day and found it to be much better than I remembered. I'm glad I have it again.

I've only done this with one frag. Amouage Beach Hut Man. I decanted more than half of it and sold the remaining bottle. Then missed it a lot and got a new 100 ml bottle.

I also had a 30 ml Xerjoff Fiero bottle which I sold and am considering getting a 100 ml one soon.

Grey Flannel-though admitting to have given away the bottle as a gift and interest in reacquiring only slowly and gradually increased over the years, leading to a much later subsequent purchase

I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve bought & sold bottles of GIT. It’s a true love/hate relationship with that one.

Other than GIT; only Prada L’homme, LIDGE & LIDG.

I've never repurchased anything that I've sold. I've replaced bottles that I've finished and regretted selling some scents that were later discontinued and shot up in value. But yeah, never actually regretted selling anything enough to go and buy it again. I actually have quite a strong dislike for most things that I've sold.

Far too many. I parted ways with 3/4 of my collection between 2012-2014, a collection which included many discontinued/rare/vintage scents. When I went to reacquire many of those scents I always paid much more than the original price, though in most cases I was not willing to wait patiently for deals. That experience taught me a valuable lesson and caused me to rethink my approach to collecting fragrances.

I'm grateful to know some very fine people here on Basenotes who've encouraged and assisted me in reacquiring many of these fragrances. Moreover, their passion for this hobby has reignited my own.

If we have parted ways, I have not looked back with any regrets. Three that come to mind are Body Kouros, Kouros and Kouros Silver.
